I take my hat off to Craig.
If he can get a few of the issues discussed and if we get some feedback from the likes of Graeme Hawkins to suggestions or concerns, it will be a big step forward.
Over the years there have been many proposals offered and we have never had a response as to whether they are considered worthwhile or not ,with reasoning,by any of the main players.
We have been considered unworthy of information so if Craig breaches that it will be great.

Preliminary feedback regarding penotrometer readings, false rail, rainfall...
Why very few fields that have a Tote place payout for 4 runners...?
A faster system regarding the Stipes reports...
The photo-finishes and video coverage of the GC races is definitely a kudo in my book...(tu)

We won't be deemed "worthy" if a significant amount of clanners don't put in the effort with the right approach. Attitude might be key. Throw away the negativity, the chips on the shoulders, the bias etc and be optimistic. At least then, should the door be shut in our faces, I will hopefully know for sure and will leave the building. For me this is as much of a test about clanners/punters etc as it is about the powers that be.

Can the operator provide us with an API to the data collected from the results of the various racing meetings so we can mine the data ourselves as stakeholders in the game. We are in an age where you can use a cellphone to analyse performance information and draw conclusions using various models, please, please, just give us access to the data.

Englander, the newer guys like yourself are probably somewhat taken aback at the apparent anger, negativity etc.,but for many of the original clan,it has been 7 years of frustration.
Over the years there have been many requests for interaction to discuss racegoers/punters concerns........they have ,in the main, been treated with disdain.
Most successful companies concentrate on listening to the requirements of their target market and being worthy of their customers support but racing appears to still be locked in the take it or leave it mindset, after many years of racing being the only game in town.

No Rob, not taken aback by it at all, I understand and sympathise with it... as I think my posts imply. There are probably a lot of similar scenarios across SA in other businesses etc. But, every opening to bring about improvement must surely be approached with the right attitude, it is almost certainly doomed to failure if not. A trainer is prepared to sit at a table and present proposals... surely that is a step in the right direction in itself? He is also a fellow clanner. IMO it is a "brave" undertaking on his part and the rest of us clanners (ALL!!! of us even the viewers only!!) must support him as much as possible.
I don't want to say too much but one way or the other it will be, to an extent, enlightening for me. It is definitely, at least initially, for me a test for clanners to show they can push the negativity and pessimism aside, however understandable it may be historically, for "viewers" to shed their shyness or apathy and actually do something and contribute for the good of SA racing. I still think some people misunderstand me... I really don't care for the most part, I am a foreigner and 100% punter and no more but I seem to show far more passion about these issues than 95% of clanners. Come on guys.... move!!!!
- And if it fails (yet again some might say) then as I say, at least I know that ALL clanners, not just the "usual suspects" lol, showed the enthusiasm, made the effort and could do no more.

But as Stuart points out the bookmakers have almost as much turnover, so must have the power to counter threat ... surely a genius like you must have thought of that????????

The operators own the tote , the events and the transmission thereof-strong negotiating power in any language.
If Stuart was saying it was a pointless move , why go to trouble and expense of implementation?
If the open bet is such a threat to local racing why does there seem to be no plan or strategy to circumvent it other than complaining about the outcome of the court case.

The abolishment of the pick 6 coupling rule has helped bring some "open bet" funds back into the tote pools..
Give everything but up!

Titch lately pools don't reach a million rand , especially mid week and pe and flamingo . hollywoods limit increase to a R1 000000 payout is a thorn to phum . I do 70% of my p6's with hollywood and the rest via interbets tote platform when the pool is over R1,2 mil .
The other day i used a friends tabonline account for a p6 , it was such a tedious and tiring exercise never again . You take a pick6 then submit but then to do another you need to go back to the bouquet and select again . on hollywood the grid remains on screen and i can punch 10bets in 30 seconds .
