At least he has come out and said something........im sure some other trainers already know their horses aren't going to run in the July, so why dont they just speak up and stop letting the punters do their bucks in on the antepost

That's bad news - I feel for the guys that took Dbls etc - Why on earth can the guys not just play open cards? Look at who owns the horse - Such massive owners yet they feel nothing for the punters

Bummed as I am about it, it's been a stated intention to get Yorker overseas for a long time....

Yes, but.................the trainer was interviewed by at least one 'racing analyst / corrrespondent' in the week leading up to the Gold Challenge, now I'm sure Mr Woodruff was under instruction not to speak about the intentions (or else was unaware); fact remains it leaves a sour taste in the mouth (and I'm not one of those that backed him ante-post).
Of course this now will have an effect on the weights (weren't these supposed to be out today) - and really open the door for Futura

I'm not trying to start an argument, but isn't it unfair to blame the owners?
When I bought my horse I surely didn't take the punters into consideration, it was my money I was spending after all...

Correct JC, but punting and punters are the single most important part of racing

It's a fair point. But I think this particular horse is not a good illustration of the issue.
On the one hand it was known all along [ from his yearling sale if you want to be picky about it ] that Yorker was headed overseas.
But if you take the case of a horse being nom'd in the hopes of getting a better weight for another horse and then scratched at the last moment - that's not cool.
I suppose one could argue that Yorker was nom'd so that LTK would get a good weight but I don't think that's the case as Yorker was in with a live chance himself - even at 60kg.
