Milton has to be 4 x the class of anything in this field, and all challengers are just hoping that the weight catches him out. Given that - I still make it about a 33% chance winner and hence I wouldn't take the odds available. I will be watching the odds available on Jet Air, and might fancy those odds off the run to Noah from Goa, if enough allowance is made for the perennial trouble this horse tends to get into.

Tote payouts make a strong case for backing with the bookies , 4/1 and 5/1 was freely available with the books this morning on Jet Air. --> Unless of course you're on an outsider - tote is best for that!

How many lengths did Milton lose coming all the way across in a SMALL field.

Not at all, -- except one has to make allowance for Apprentices, depending on how good or how bad they are.
Trainers, Jockeys and Connections just love the public’s allegiance to Jockeys. There is no more powerful tool to manipulate the odds than to mess with the Jockey selection.

One of the rules inscribed in my punters bible is that poor value will undo even a champion -- ultimately this game is about value.
