According to me, ST will carry 55.5 - as much as 3,5 kgs under sufferance - and I think Jooste has a share in French Navy - but I could be wrong

Not Listed as an owner of French Navy.

Cant understand why they never scratch on Monday where their other runners could have been getting lumps of weight.

Not sure about the Joostes gaining anything (maybe The Conglomerate will now get in) but for the Tarry yard, they now have French Navy running against most of the others at favorable weight terms - e.g. Marinaresco will come in as much as 4.5 kgs under sufferance

totally disagree the rules are set by the operator not by the connections of legal eagle ..they are playing by the rules and any other trainer or racing manager would do the same secondly the antepost rules of no refunds is set by the bookies not by the connections of legal eagle ..mr brugmans salary is paid by mr jooste and he is there for the best interests of mr joostes horses

All true - but I can't see what has been gained by the Joostes / Brugman ? Unless Deo Juvente has been pulled up without any real evidence of an injury - and I think Strydom is too experienced to pull up a horse without feeling something amiss? DJ the only Jooste horse who will now not be under sufferance ?

The rules are set by the operator and when taking an antepost bet its the risk a punter takes.

But by scratching Legal Eagle now, they have jeopardize their other runners, St Tropez and Rabada weight wise.

Posted this on a different thread, 24/05 :-

My own dippy logic, Legal Eagle (MR 120) will be withdrawn, the ante-post strongly suggests this, 2/1 out to 10/1, bookies are not in the game to give money away. Other nominees point to the owner having more than adequate back-up in The Conglomerate (MR 101) and St Tropez (MR 99). Even if Legal Eagle stands his ground, that's no guarantee that he would win the July against well weighted 4 year olds and unknown/improving 3 year olds. I think they will have another tilt at the Met with Legal Eagle because the weight conditions are more in his favour.

In the event that Legal Eagle is withdrawn and French Navy standing his ground and becoming the new top weight, then won't likes of Marinaresco (MR 97) and Blck Arthur (MR 96) have their merit ratings adjusted up anyway - if this is correct, then you can see why the respective trainers are adopting the routes they have. More a hunch than fact, so keep backing your fancy, whatever it may be.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Speculation. Speculation. Would be very interesting if DJ takes its place in the July. Even more interesting if Striker pulled up DJ with nothing wrong with DJ. DJ's last run killed of 3 very good trebles that I had on Sunday. I generally take racing c**p in my stride because I choose to play in an arena where I have no control. Still would be very interesting.
