Legal Eagle scratched from the July

Please be advised that the following horses have been scratched from this year’s Vodacom Durban July by trainer, Sean Tarry .

Question - How can they give nil reason?

It's for this reason and other bull I never punt ante post.

Yep,the line between "canny" and unethical getting increasingly blurred imo.

The biggest benefactor of the scratching now is Mac De Lago. Had Legal Eagle been scratched on Monday Mac De Lago will have been giving nearly all the 3yos, 6kgs, but now just has to concede 4kgs. So those runners are under sufferance currently.

If Legal Eagle was going to run, then it would have been July favorite from the beginning considering it is proven, classy and best rated / weighted to win. The fact that it wasn't suggests that bookies knew it was never going to run and tempted the punters with mouth watering odds. Another example of C**P in SA racing. No reason given makes it a joke.

Also suggesting that French Navy who is weighted to win (and in my opinion has been prepared all along with the July as his sole target) or St. Tropez (who must be giving the Jooste's plenty of confidence) will fight out the July. Just my opinion.

Have to agree this does not smell good

If the horse is not injured (and then it should have been put forward as the reason for scratching), it does seem that they are trying to manipulate the weights - it now looks like at most 6 runners (including the doubtful Deo Juvente) will come in not under sufferance - hope it comes back to bite them :ohmy:

Any idea what St. Tropez will carry now that LE is scratched? I can't see a Jooste horse scratched to assist that of any other owner.
