I have Zanadu running in the 5th - the Maiden 1600m. Here's what I can tell you :

As hoped for - she showed marked improvement over 1800m at her last outing and got within 4 lengths of the winner. She was still a touch clueless at various points in the race but seems to be getting the idea. I have always believed she would not be particularly competitive until tried from 2000m+.

After that race it was agreed that her next outing would be the 2000m on September 9th.

So you could have knocked me over with a feather when I found out by sheer chance that she is running today.

I then got a call from my trainer who advised me as follows :

1.) She is running today.
2.) She is fit.
3.) He left her in because of the weak field and because he wanted to sharpen her up for the 9th September.
4.) She may even go to the front and use her stride for the first time.

If you can work this out then you are smarter than me. But it looks suspiciously like a glorified grass gallop ; a practise which I am strongly opposed to. If she comes up on us you have my apologies in advance.

Garrick , thanks for the info , is it normal for owners not to know when there horse is running or does this particular trainer feel that the owner doesn't need to know , just wondering

Cele has won for me before, rides hard and provides good feedback. Improved last run and hopefully will continue to improve here.

All the best with your runner!
