Horse racing is different from normal sporting events.
1. No need for large crowds.
2. Limited human interaction.
3. Revenue generated Online.
The other normal risks still apply, as with supermarkets and other essentials.
I think a strong case can be made for it.

Even with no public present, racing is still a gathering; a gathering of trainers, stable hands, starters, vets, jockeys. For me, best case scenario 1 June.

Their argument is as strong as racings Muhti. Its easy to social distance on a golf course. No caddies only carts and no halfway or 19th and I actually think they are golden.

My personal feeling is that NHRA made a superb plea to Government to get racing going again, doesn’t matter if it’s not exactly 1st May but maybe during May. Possibly could have put more medical science into it to ensure that it was watertight, employing maybe a team of nurses and Dr to supervise the meetings from the testing, sanitizing and social distancing issues, however if Vee reads this he might want to consider adding that before they review it. Then Good Chance!!!

I will admit to having more than a passing interest in the golf, I usually play three rounds a week and I'm missing it.

Question?
The Ra have guaranteed the stakes for May
What happens if the Bookmakers/Totes are not allowed to open during May?
Who pays June`s Stakes?
Have GC/PHUM/Bookies also been involved in the NHA talks?

First point is this affects Phum country only, Gold Circle finance their own stakes.
Insofar as Phumelela country is concerned, this is taken directly from the RA letter where they commit to paying May stakes:
We can confirm that subject to the government lifting the current “lockdown”, racing will recommence on 1st of May. Due to its lack of income, Phumelela can only offer 40% of the amounts contracted to the Stakes agreement for the month of May. Thereafter the stakes to be paid by Phumelela for June would depend entirely upon the income received in May. The stakes for July would depend upon the income received in June. An income to stakes formula for the remainder of the season will be agreed between Phumelela and the RA by the end of this week.
My understanding is therefore that if there is not sufficient turnover on May racing, then the RA will need to come to the party to subsidise June stakes and so the cycle continues. Interestingly there has been no communication to members about the income to stakes formula for the remainder of the season as promised. It seems we may have a new board at the RA, but their communication to members mirrors that of the old board.
This propping up of Phumelelas commitment by the RA is clearly not sustainable. Should Phumelela not perform going forward, all the RA are doing are prolonging Phumelela existence. This utilisiation of members money really shouldn't be used in the way that it is, seeing that Phumelela are the party in covenant of the stakes agreement.

You sure?
How do GC fund their stakes then?
I was always lead to believe that they got a share of Phumelela’s overseas TV deal?
