Well over 120 runs.
Led my employer to quib at the time....."the horses have pencils in their hooves as they nominate themselves".
Good times

Trained by his dad - Robbie would let those 2yr olds run often - His babies might have had 10 or more starts before turning 3 and he would use appies often to help them with the weight and his horses did not break down very often.

I wonder what the longest losing streak for a horse is(Pumkin Pie must be up there)

So longest losing streak could be Glam I am who raced between 2012 & 2016 with a whopping 96 runs without a win. Internationally, I think it is Quixall Crossett who ran 103 races without a win.

Abit of the topic but in the last 30 years from 1990 to 2020, I only can recall two horses that have won a Grade 1 at 8 years old in south Africa.

Golden Loom - The Grade 1 Sprint at Scotsville. Could have won a Graded Race at age 10.
Pas De Quoi - Champion Stakes at Greyville but just turned 8. What could be interesting that Pas De Quoi was at stud prior as he was brutally attacked earlier in his career.

Flaming Rock also came back from stud at age 6 to win a Grade 1, The Schweppes Challenge.

feed must have been relatively cheaper then, or he paid his way in minor stakes...

On a slightly related note, I remember Teal running a string of seconds, like maybe 10 or 12 seconds before actually winning his maiden. Turned out ok for him 😂

You right, small horse trained by PB Shaw and I think ridden mostly by Johnny G.... did it not finish 2nd in the July and win the Gold Cup or something like that?

I think Teal was also a twin? Or it was fostered by another Mom?
