Most Number Of Runs

So Craig Peters mentioned something interesting just now. Putchini having his 117th start today and he actually managed to run a place, wow thats some achievement. Craig was interested to know which racehorse has had the most number of starts in South Africa? He has now sparked my curiosity as well. I do recall many of Buddy Marouns sprinters running for what seemed like forever. Does anyone if one of his horses holds the record? Or if it was another horse? We rarely get to witness a horse exceeding 100 runs here in SA, it much more common in the UK. On that note, does anyone know the record internationally as well? It would be interesting to find out and compare.

Could be Pumkin Pie, trained by Buddy Maroun. Took a good number of runs to break its maiden. Could be well over 70 runs before she cracked her first win and she raced well over 100 times.

Yeah, that was the one I had in mind...definitely ran 114 times ... but not sure if more than that. Here in the Cape Naude's Bad Tidings also ran many times

Naresh,Pumpkin Pie brings back many memories,used to speed off to the front and then hit a brick wall,always included her in my swingers,if I can recall Pumpkin Time ( also from Buddy's stable i think) and Pumpkin Pie ran in the same race and a had a huge swinger bet on them which arrived.

Quite awhile ago there was a thread on unusual horse behavior in races,I mentioned Alarm Call (also buddy's stable)who would be in the lead and about to win and then would veer off course to bite the horse closest to him.I think Mac's friends owned Alarm Call.

As soon as I started reading the thread Buddie came to mind.
What a pleasure for his owners, your horse could run twice a week vs the 4/6 weeks norm.

I was young but buddy trained a horse i think called Gold Louis that ran over 150 times .... i remember because that was the most times i seen a horse run in a month , 7 times in a month was the most

Remember Golden Loom (Goofy) that horse knew how to win races.

Also trying to remember a 2yr old that ran many times, National??

Golden Loom my favorite horse of all time and in his later career also started biting horses that try to pass him

I remember a horse called Bell Harbour trained by the Spies' ran on a Sunday Turffontein, Monday Kimberley, Thursday Vaal and finished off its prep with a run at Turffontein on the Saturday.
