When Gold Circle and Cape Racing merged to form Coastal Pools then things went..... South, for GC of course.
They sensibly got out of it.

Everyone that tried to run Cape Racing has failed... Sad but true... Everyone!!

WHY? Regional punting?

The tracks and quality of the horses are amazing!

The height of useless is everyone and their dogs knew that this meeting would be abandoned or postponed yesterday, and yet, the quickmixes all still have Greyville legs in them. Whoever still plays these bets with the Greyville legs included in them is a mug of note - You have fewer legs to work through the exorbitant takeout from the tote on the pool - Which I guess is the only thing that matters to the tote.

Its like taking a Pick 3. Its the same take out. The morning Quick Mix paid, R210, with all fancied runners. Last week there was a payout of R1700 with three legs. Once there was even a carryover with three legs. It depends how you structure your bet.

As of midday yesterday the pen reading at Scottsville was 25/26 after only 4mls overnight. We cannot afford to not have a Sunday meeting so there was a possibility that this Greyville meeting could move to Scottsville if there was not too much rain overnight. The transport was in place to move the TV equipment up to Scottsville early today if Greyville was unable to race but we could race at Scottsville. Unfortunately Scottsville recieved another 22mls overnight and therefore the meeting was postponed to Friday.

All I will say if anyone saw this rain and thought there was a possibility of racing at any KZN track, based on historical performance, then they were hopeful rather than factual.

Mr Eudey, I totally agree with you. All stakeholders needs to understand that other countries like England for example are also watching SA racing.

Or are we bad to the bone?

I have seen overseas racing on poly in terrible conditions. Far worse than what is currently being experienced by KZN. Perhaps Mr Eudey can explain why an all weather track cannot handle any exceptional weather? Wasn't the reason for buggering up that lovely turf track and putting this rubbish in, so that racing could take place in times like this?

As a late clansman used to say “Greyville used to have one track but now they have two half-tracks”.

OTA. Durban is flooded. Stamford hill rd near Greyville is basically impassable. No track could handle the rain we have had since Saturday and raining even harder now. :(
