Great days racing and well as per usual win one race and then you are favourite for the July , hard to teach old bookies new tricks

I suppose every one will see the results in in their own way - imo the run by Hoedspruit was not that bad - on my ratings about 4 points off his best - take into account that 1600 was too short off a slow pace and despite all the info flying about, I think the stable did not really want to win that race today - but he is 14th on the July log, so should still comfortably get into the race - obviously Safe Passage now gets automatic qualification, but Double Superlative is out - so he should stay at 14 - should still be well handicapped so I would not rule him out
I know I'm probably in the minority, but I don't think a 3-yr old will win this year - and I was one of the few that did not think Pomp and Power was past the post - yes he may appreciate a pace-setter - but not too sure who that would be in the July - so he might have to make his own pace again - which I think is a negative; for sure Safe Passage put his hand up, and he may improve more - but let's see what the handicapper does - if the 3yr-olds come in at 53kgs, they may have a chance, but any more weight I think they will struggle especially as some capable older horses (and not forgetting Sparkling Water) will come at the same weights.
So apart from Pomp and Power not really being that big a certainty as most people thought, today did not really show us too much - my opinion of course

Wish him well and every success...respect for him (and jockeys) after seeing a documentary about his weight battles...

These grade 1 races were a joke and in my opinion did not deserve the status. How low can we actually go until horse racing is seen as a total joke?
KZN all of a sudden caught the Cape Crawl virus in both Grade 1 events. The times on the day reflect that last years winner of the Daily News would have been 2 lengths clear of this years winner. War of Athena would have won by 4 lengths..... so did the crawl and sprint reflect the best result? Actually a disgrace in my opinion.
I wonder if all the trainers instructions in those races were to drop the horses out? Besides P&P if these were not the instructions then the jockeys have just done what they want in the races.
As for the "Jockey's statements being misconstrued" , which part exactly?
1. I was told to look after them
2. I must bring them along
3. I know some were favourites
4. Implying that the Woolavington winner was the only mount given a full go
I wonder if the trainer and jockey take the punting public for a "big cat"?
