Bayern, i agree with you, also from my view, I believe Macherina will go well and a filly like Regeneration may be anything over this distance....

I cant get excited about the result of the Dn2000 . Poor field. Winner was a ferrari racing beetles.
The woolhavington was also a shambles. When a jockey on the outside can run across multiple horses and not be disqualified is wrong. Might be the laws but does not make it right.

.....glad to see that young Snaith actually used the race as a big educational for 8on18 to really run at them from a standstill....smiley

Agree Bob, however he would have lost to Vercingetorix by 4 based on times. Purely theoretical, however, considering that Eight On Eighteen is already horse of the year, the reason for trainers avoiding the Daily News needs to be considered so that we do not end up with such a poor field again. Seems to me, just my opinion, that the Cape Races are hyped much more currently and considering the constant reviewing of downgrading races in the KZN season, makes me question why? I suppose it will all reveal itself in good time. Eight On Eighteen will be a new sire however consider that Vercingetorix would have beat him by 4, a filly ran second to him in the Daily News and he couldn't beat One Stripe over 1600m.
We now also have arguably the best sprinter in SA not racing on the big sprint day which is a massive loss. Gimme A Prince should be racing on sprint day and not be smacked with conditions that are only revealed post planning and travelling the horse to KZN. Traditionally for me the best sprint races in SA;
Golden Horse 1200m
ComputerForm 1000m
Mercury Sprint 1200m (when this was run at Clairwood - probably the fairest course in the series)
Cape Flying 1000m
So what now? Does the Mercury become the premium sprint? I don't think it is fairest measure considering that the draw plays too much of an influence.
Isn't it strange that the JHB horses are expected to travel to the Cape however we do not see any of the "Cape Champions" in JHB... are they the champions?
Just as we believe we are moving in the right direction, it feels like we aren't and there are many questions about transparent conditions of races going forward. Just a reminder, the MET is not bigger than THE JULY, regardless of the conditions. The CAPE FLYING is not bigger than the GOLDEN HORSE or COMPUTERFORM SPRINT.....
