What Does Multiplier Mean?
In Keynesian economic theory, a factor that quantifies the change in total income as compared to the injection of capital deposits or investments which originally fueled the growth. It is usually used as a measurement of the effects of government spending on income, and it can be calculated as one divided by the marginal propensity to save.
Will the cost of the lunch be included as a portion of the total income change as a result of the Achievers Day initiative. ?
Seriously, how will the RA measure the success or non-success of this initiative. Tote turnover, bums on seats, new owners registered, new members of the RA.
It was a great idea to bring in new people to the races for the first time but will there be any follow up.

The draw winners were:
Brad Burrow
Lee Scott
Lazarus Monama
Ashley Rainsford
Sizakele Nhlapo
Seipati Mosiea
Nomfundo Nobiva
Chanelle Singh
Sithole Kabelo
Kevin Smith
Melissa van Aarle
Claudette van der Schyff
Tegan Leyshon
Ross Burl
Andrew Volker
Sandra Vermaak
Michael Turner
Jonathan Barnes
Carl van der Berg
Other highlights of Achievers Day included a number of draws for free betting vouchers worth a total of R5 000 and the attendance of a number of celebrities, including several boxing champions. The Miss RA pageant and a Best-Dressed Couple competition were both well supported and had valuable prizes.
The Best-Dressed Couple was Coral Coole and Ricky West.
Miss RA was attorney Melissa Mackey, while her princesses were Gugu and Roxanne
From the list above it seems that very few if any of the prize winners had any prior relationship with racing (I can see two names that have some remote family ties to the industry). Perhaps the draw and Miss Ra etc was rigged? or perhaps the truth is that new people were in the majority - Remember also that many people gave of their time without charge or reward- Manny Fernandes(brought his stable of boxers without so much as asking for a cent for apperance fees - he just loves racing and boxing), Shaheen Shaw, Cecil Mthembu etc and having a free for all is certainly not something that these people need nor want as they have multiple opportunities to socialise. What you also have no idea about is that each person received a gift bag with info regarding the industry as well as a promo DVD that they could watch later with contact details for the RA and other industry members. Try this take a girl you want to impress to a provincial cricket game for a day - spend a few hours explaining the rules(while she is trying to watch the game) of the game to her- Me i'd rather take her to a PRO 20 match and let her have a ball(I'm sure explaining the rules would be much easier to convey over breakfast in bed the next day). I was a student that spent more time socialising than studiying so I know how students think - they came there to have a good time not to attend another lecture - selling the lifestyle

The 1st law of buss..there is no such thing as a free lunch..someone pays for it..why dont P and RA get the racing programme right first then start enticing new owners
