HOW TO GET A GOOD DRAW? GET LUCKY?
15 years 6 months ago
Someone please advise. Have 7 seven horses enetered in next 2 weeks to run and the best that one of them has drawn is 35 and worst is 58?
Maybe I need a holiday on an island with an exotic virgin to change my luck and my horse's draws?
Who knows Christmas is coming up. How are these draws allocated anyways?

What they do is target certain people. They create something called a lookup, where the draw computer checks to see whether a horse is owned or trained by a targeted person. The computer then checks for a track bias, and then loads a random bias to allocated the horse linked to the target with the track bias.
There has been occasions where that number of targeted people in a race is so large, that the draws 1-10 have been left blank and the first allocated draw has been no.10 Only when a one of the staff noticed after the draws were published and seen did they deleted the file. When republished, all the draws were different.

Yes, of course I'm joking (or maybe they're evil genius's, though genius is something the operators have yet to be accused of here, even the RA).
Sometimes I think people forget that IF a 'good' draw is say for eg between 1-7, and if there were 100 nominations, then 93% of the people would be of the opinion that they had a "bad" draw. Certainly everyone drawn 20-100, which is the large majority.
It means that most of the time, most people obviously should have a crap draw.
To complain about the norm just proves you have no idea about the odds of that particular game. You can reasonably expect to be in the 80% 'bad' block often, it's LIKELY that you WILL have a poor draw several times in a row. In fact many, many times.
Especially if you have been targeted.

Around 10 years ago I owned a filly called Fire In The Sky ( Arbat) trained in Natal. She kept drawing badly and in desperation I phoned Greyville to enquire how the draws were conducted and who was present when this happened. After receiving an explanation we entered her for another race and promptly drew no 1 !!!!!
In the end it must pan out evenly although certain horses and trainers do appear to be luckier than others. For example a few years ago a decent filly called Vesta couldn't buy a decent draw whereas last year in seemed like Our Giant drew favourably on many occasions.
