I remember when we used to ha 4-6 week shutdowns in UK due to ice frost and snow.
BBC TV with David Coleman and Peter O'sullevan used to do simulated pools forecast and races with specially selected panels locked in to hotel rooms.
Things have definitely moved on since then

Not sure if there will be racing today?

Newcastle on the flat
Southwell over the jumps
Cork where Energumene might run

Newcastle's all-weather fixture on Sunday has been called off due to frozen ground but racing at Cork will take place following an inspection.

Cork's jumps meeting includes the Grade 2 Hilly Way Chase (2.20), in which Champion Chase hero Energumene is set to make his racecourse return.

Clerk of the course Val O'Connell said on Sunday morning: "Following a precautionary inspection at Cork this morning I'm happy to say that the track is fit for racing and the meeting will go ahead. The ground is yielding to soft."

Meanwhile, Newcastle's news comes after Saturday's racing was controversially abandoned around half an hour before the first race. Clerk of the course Eloise Quayle deemed conditions raceable but racing professionals described the surface as "unsafe" and "frozen".

An inspection is due at Southwell, the only remaining fixture in Britain, at 9.30am, following the cancellation of Carlisle's meeting due to frost

Market Rasen and Plumpton OFF

Just waiting for Lingfield and Wolves

It sounds like Honeysuckle will avoid Constitution Hill and go for the Mares hurdle as the easier option.
