Durban crowds are always small, don't know why they move the Boxing Day test to PE. People forget that over December family visit family and have not the time to go to the ground or they spend the time on the beach.

Sorry for the delay in answering you question but after seeing that you agreed with me I fell over and hit my head from the shock. SA need to score 416 to win. At the moment they have scored 50/0

I have not read all the posts on the thread, but let me add my bit......
I think I said some time ago, that SA cricket is on a downward spiral, and unfortunately we have not hit the bottom yet
The selectors do not have an easy task, but they need to do a better job imo - why can we not find a decent opener - van Zyl is much better down the order and if Piedt is our best spinner (and he probably is) then I think we need to go back to an all-out seam attack .....even with Steyn not fit, Morkel, Philander, Rabada and Chris Morris will do the job - Elgar the back-up if we really need some variation - ideally we need a left-arm seamer, but I can't think of one
Our batting has been mostly woeful this year, and if de Kock could get the drop out of the one day team for not performing, then Amla, Du Plessis and Duminy should also be dropped to 'regain their form' at domestic level
We will probably not change much for Newlands (maybe bring in Rossouw for Duminy or du Plessis), but I'm not sure that will be enough and we will probably be 2-0 down after the Newlands test. Imo more changes should be made earlier rather than later, starting with the coach and the captain.
We can't continue with a make-shift opener and de Villiers can not be expected to spend 80% of the game on the field, so I would like to see the following players in the test team:
Cook
Elgar
Rossouw
Amla / Bavuma / AN Other Batsmen
de Villiers (Capt)
v Zyl
de Kock (wk)
Morris
Philander
Rabada
Morkel
To me this looks a much better balanced side - 7 front-line batsmen with 4 front-line seamers with Elgar and v Zyl as backup. The sooner we start re-building, the sooner we will start improving again

Amla now on 4 off 9 balls. If he sees out 50 balls then I predict that he will go and and face over 150 balls to help save the match

Lol Chicken, I just came to post-
Although its early, its the best I have seen Amla look in along time... I have a funny feeling, we won't draw the test. We will win it.

we can only hope so as we have done it before in Australia a few years ago at the WACA chased down 414.
