I personally think Yorker is a different horse to the one that lose to Gitiano. He is the X Factor of the race and am hoping he will be like his ex stablemate Yard Arm and improve from run to run. I am taking a 52,5/1 double on Yorker to do the DN / July double. If he wins the Daily News I will have 40/1 Jet Explorer (EW) and 52,5/1 on Yorker. PS I am not worried about the draw. (tu)

Anyone who has a fancy for the July best get on before tomorrow, I have a feeling that CTN will put any questions to bed about his inability to stay the 2200m with a dismal showing in the Daily News and will become a non entity if he even starts in the July...time is running out

be interesting if blueridge mountain blows cott away will the connections consider putting the overseas trip on hold for a crack at the july...the daily news could turn out to be a very rough run race especially with the size of the field and the false rail being only 5m

Whiteline I would be very wary about backing CTN in either race if i were you, he won the Cape Derby beating two 1 time winners in Dynamic and Sanshaawes by under a length both under sufferance to him by 13,5 Kg's and 5,5 Kg's respectively, the time was over 3 seconds slower than the Met which was run a little later on in the day so in fact on his time he would have run last in that race had he run,his mare has also never thrown anything that has won further than 1800M, he is a top class animal but simply wont go the trip and will make his presence felt over shorter but imo no ways will he shape in the DN nor the July

@ Titch, the Derby may have been a slow run race, so to compare CTN's winning time in the Derby to the last finisher in the Met can be very misleading. Guess tomorrow's race will see if you correct with the time assessment theory.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Agreed but if it was in fact a slow run race and CTN still only managed to best that field as he did then would you say he has a right to be fav in the DN???

Again, just my opinion, I thought it was a very gutsy win (in the Derby) considering CTN hit the front some way out and fought on doggedly to the line despite challenges from all round. Think you will agree, at one stage it looked like one or two would pass him, but he fought on all the way to the line. To me, that's a sign of a horse with heart. When the betting opened for the DN2000, CTN was joint 7/2 favourite, I think the money has come for him now, because in his last run quite a few things didn't go his way, slow away, jockey lost his iron, etc, etc. As a punter, one has to assume he has strengthened up, will strip fitter and if he runs to his true ability, will be there when the photo is taken. Maybe he is the exception rather than the rule when delving into the bloodline and the ability to stay - after all, he has won over tomorrow's distance. The shortening into outright favourite, well there must be a few shrewdies out there who think he will stay and win.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

What Happens IF MARCUS don't Ride On SATURDAY?
The Only Thing, Jooste has to do is get STRIKER
To Ride Blueridge Mountain and Yorker .
::o:
It so happen that Marcus possible may not ride
Blueridge Mountain and Yorker..
replacement would be Striker Stydom..:

if for somehow reason that Marcus don't ride and
Striker rides and do win with them. Assume that
Blueridge Mountain beat cherry on the top,and Brm
goes into the DVJ,she not in the betting at this
point, Striker also wins with Yorker .is it
possible that yorker and blueridge mountain goes
in the july as joint favorite,

DURBAN VODACOM JULY
BLUERIDGE MOUNTAIN -P.STRYDOM
VS
YORKER-
A.MARCUS
THE BEST EVER DURBAN VODACUM JULY . >:D<

Titch, who should we call on to lay CTN at a 5 point stretch on Interbet racetime?

And to all those wanting clarity on my 4/1 offer, it is based on a WIN for CTN...basically i'm saying he won't win...what im also saying is that watch the race closely, whether a horse runs first or second to last, if you have a half decent eye you will be able to see if a horse does not stay.
Unless tomorrow's race is run at a crawl, CTN will out-sprint them, but the way i see it, besides the likes of a few in this field, most will be trying their heart out to win, thus there will be speed on. Fancied horses also drawn wide will add to the speed, and if the recent track record is anything to go by, and based on what i saw today, i cannot see the going as being good. Having said that, a slightly soft track, run at a good pace, CTN is dead and buried in my opinion.
