I usually go for a 3 year old in the July but as the top merit rating by older horses at present is 113 the 3 year olds will mostly carry a big weight. I will be going for an older horse this year. Pomodoro, Hill54 and Jet Explorer (carry less weight than the 3 year olds) and as the Snaiths have said Run For It has come on since gelding, for me must all be lively contenders. I am happy with Jet Explorer at this stage if he goes to a 101 MR he will carry 54kgs which as an improving 4 year old must come into the race. This could be one of the most open July for years.

I think CTN ran a brilliant race, was far from disgraced, he was given every chance. Well done to the Vercingetorix followers. As far as CTN and the July is concerned, after not winning either the Guineas or the DN2000, the stable may opt to leave him in the July, he did after all finish within a neck of Vercingetorix. The burning issue of whether he will stay the extra furlong, well the fastest finishers appeared to be the second and fourth placed horses, and MDK did allude to the fact that he is not certain whether the winner will stay the extra, unless ridden differently - can't see why the same cannot apply to CTN.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

BH My "guess" was based on exposed form and not the horses looks??? heres a news flash the Daily News was not a beauty contest, the horse ran way above my expectations and cost me the trifecta and quartet as I coppered him in everything,as far as my "soft job" goes those come with a proven track record which i have earned having won a SA jock title and have managed jocks that have won the Presidents Cup July Met and Gold Cup, I notice you chose to wait till after the race was run and the result posted b4 you had a go?? welcome to the site yet another ARM , you are not alone

The Greyville track ,contrary to popular belief,is a real test to a horses stamina.More so of late.Or am i getting it the other way round. Are our horses stamina gene being diluted to a certain extent.Hasnt not getting the trip been the reason for many a favoured horse not coming home at this track.I might add over any trip.
Its warming up nicely and a few bubbles will be burst but not before the hasty loose their lot.
