But this is against a bowling attack who have no hope in hell of taking 20 wickets in test, or so the English press said.

This has to be one of the worst efforts of knocking over a number 11 on debut. Thought the wouldn't make 130 now have nearly 100 more than that. In a relatively low scoring game this partnership could be match winning.

Dreadful bowling agreed, but credit where credit due... terrific effort by Hughes and particularly the debutant Agar, shows what being young and having no fear can do. Well batted young man (tu)

yes cant believe i was rooting for an aussie to make a 100 on debut.lol.day 3 will be best for batting,but if aussies can get an early wicket then the rest of the poms will crumble as usual and it will all be over by lunch day 5 with england trying to level the series in the next test.

Like Sly I was watching and cheering Agar on ... surprised myself too, but I don't think I was the only GB supporter to hope he got to 100 and be disappointed he didn't quite make it.

Laughed when - I think it was Bumble? - said something about "'Agar the 'Orrible" being a good headline for tomorrow.
