It must have an awful smell coming from the stadium just down the road.

Retained by England, after the 3rd test a draw, that's the series over in the UK.

Not the best way of achieving it and the 5-0 gone but Ashes retained is the most important thing

and i was going to offer you 50/1 on the 5-0
oh well there is always 4-0 which I doubt as i think that the Aussies have improved and will give it a good go at Chester le Street where it should be a fast bowlers paradise

Let's hope the rain doesn't interfere with the next Test. How come the English, of all people, invented the only sport (other than golf, and that was invented by the Scots wasn't it?) where one game lasts for five days, beats me. With their weather, what are the chances of most Tests going end to end without interruption? Or was the weather different back in the 1800's?
That first Test was a beaut of a game, a beast of a game, with ups and downs aplenty and every time you turned on the TV you did so with real interest, because you never knew what had happened while you were away. Would it be Eng or Aus on top? Who would have gone out, who would have scored big? Great to see two determined teams scrapping away, trying to get the first-game advantage, trying to get the "momentum" (silly word, but hey!) to go their way.
To be honest, this third Test was a bit of an anti-climax. Though maybe after the intensity of the first one that was inevitable. Now the Aussies only have pride to fight for, so we'll see.
Maybe the Aus batsmen will start swinging more free and easy, without the stress of knowing that their wicket might cost not only the game, but the Ashes. I get the feeling that the one thing the English (and most other) bowlers can't cope with, is a batsman who doesn't care, who is playing for their own enjoyment and to entertain the crowd. That's why, imho, tailenders have been so effective ... they have no batting average to defend, any runs they make are a bonus, so why not have a bash?
