It's time to realize that much of what happens here now is irrevocably linked to agreements we have with "overseas", and that to a large extent via both TT and Tote. Racing fans will also have to note that a growing share of the income is NOT from racing as such, but from soccer and selling the picture and we will have to accept many "local" inconveniences. For eg, what may suit us is 15min between races for SA tracks, and what we will get is 5 minutes because thats the schedule we must have for overseas broadcast. It is pointless to keep asking to have stuff that was sold from under us years earlier.

I for one will definitely only do sports betting if I have to pay for TT.

Wonder why they are trying to get fewer people to watch the races? Hiding something? Fewer people to pick up their shortcomings? Where is the method in this madnes?

No, I don't believe there are any weird intentions. Most of what happens is a side effects of decisions which had a higher priority. With this TT thing, I really hope we punters are not just collateral damage in a power struggle. It it turns out so, best we members and shareholders exercise the vote and saw of some heads.

.....we're simply all speculating until we have all the facts.....the cat is only half out the bag....let's see the real ramifications of what we are losing or may be gaining.....I was miffed in the past when at considerable investment I got the IGN channel though my M-net decoder but had to fork out for big time for installation of a now redundant antennae which points directly at the TT studio.....then again had to migrate to a DSTV decoder on an even more outlay upfront when the IGN setup was merged onto DSTV....I have now HD DSTV with premier package....and now the technology has been upped by the Explora decoder saving newer market entrants the high cost of HD installation with dual LNB and DSTV multi switches....:S

I am now speculating that TPTB who once were able to keep bookies and betting lounges on a much higher commercial subscription in IGN days are losing out to any old joe getting the basic decoder and broadcasting in the betting lounge/shop without paying them a dime.... should this move be one to limit FREE access to the TT channel..... they have seriously under estimated their real customer base....the daily punter doing his thing from the comfort of his own home.....:X

Jap - you are far too modest! You will surely qualify as a 'Top 100' punter and get your picture for free. Lol.

Some of the rest of us may well benefit by being cured of this awful addiction!

Frodo

On this one we agree !!!

239 will only show local Racing , direct from the On Course feed. If you want Overseas feeds, chariots etc, you will have to pay R3000 for that decoder.

One thing that confuses me is that a TT presenter just spoke to me minutes ago and knows nothing about this, except through this thread.

1. Betting prices are still shown on Racing International (RI).

2. Perhaps what will be beamed on the new decoders is RI?

3. Dont crucify Tt. TT is not pulling out of DSTV. It is DSTV who are throwing out TT. TT is trying to appease us. ????

Maybe that's because Rod is still 'one finger typing' the re-trenchment letters.....lol.

This would be incredible; live feed straight from the track, parade ring, canter pasts, winning jockey and trainer interviews...no more racing from Zim, Ngong, Sweden, Aussie Harness...Craig, can you please try and confirm...this would be heaven...Tks
