PHUMELELA MEDIA RELEASE
SUBJECT: Investigation into Vaal abandonment
DATE: 21 MAY 2014
RELEASED BY: PHUMELELA GAMING

Phumelela Gaming has launched an urgent investigation into the reasons for
Thursday’s race meeting on the Vaal sand being abandoned after only two
races.
The jockeys lodged a protest after Race 2 that the going was inconsistent
and unsafe. The track was inspected and the veterinary surgeons concurred
with the jockeys after which the remaining races were abandoned.
The outcome of the investigation will be announced as soon as possible

So you prefer the sand to Polytrack ???...............polytrack may not be everybodies cup of tea but it isn't the punters that should be complaining..............easily the most consistent results on the surface!

(Greyville's only problem is they squeezed 2 tracks into an area perfectly suited to 1)

Rob I seen an Irish trainer moaning about the Dundalk polytrack on social media , basically saying it's tired and needs relayed. Not sure if it's cheaper or easier to use sand or poly

Yup, by a mile and a half! maybe even two miles ;)
To be honest Rob, I can find Poly very boring. Also some of the turf meetings. If nothing else sand gives some variety (though not saying it is never boring either! lol). On top of that, the Vaal sand was once, in some people's opinion, including mine, the most consistent surface and one where form could be trusted (to a degree! lol). Bingo also used to be similar but much more periodically imo (for reasons well documented over the years!). I still feel more confident in studying for a sand meeting than I do any other surface, maybe partly cos I can discount form from anywhere else which simplifies the process hugely. And I am an "idiot" hunter, my impression is that it is easier finding idiots on sand than anywhere else. That said, perhaps the course has become so poor that it cannot be saved but, if they can restore it to its former "glory" then yes, I would much prefer to have it stay than another poly course. Possibly just me but, that's how I feel :)

Guys we are trying to fix the symptons with the meeting being abondoned ,its time that the root cause get adressed.

You dont kill a snake by cutting of its tail ...............

I made up my mind finally I will race with what I got and will not buy one more horse as they retire I will get out of it writing off 16 years school fees as a owner.I am on 91 winners hope the rest of my horses can win me nine more ,yet if they dont not the end of the world as a cricket player I got out many a time in the late nineties and I remember those more than the 100's I have made ;-)

I cannot see myself wasting money any further in a business or like some call it enjoyment that only frustrates you because it is run by people with agendas.
