Good improvement by Everlasting in 3rd- looks like she needs further, and should now be ready to pick up a race.
Sunlit from Heaven green and will want further.
Nothingelsematters close second- finished like a train and then baulked by Keep Shining ducking out badly which cost him the race. Very annoying as we got 10/1 on him.
One runner at Greyville on Sunday- Umthombo Wolwazi in race 1. Looks ready to win.
One runner at Durbanville on Tuesday- Beau Kala in race 8. Struggled in the heavy going last time, and should now improve. Not the strongest of fields so must have a chance.

Fluent win by Umthombo Wolwazi, although didn’t beat very much. Mare is now 4 winners from 4 runners.
Beau Kala needs to improve.
Three runners at Fairview on Friday- all at long odds.
*Elusive Jewel runs in race 2. It’s taking a while for the penny to drop with her, but apart from the favourite, this is a moderate bunch and with a few lengths improvement she could earn a cheque.
* Fort Dawn runs in race 3. A small field of professional maidens, and an upset is on the cards. I will be disappointed if he does not run a place.
* Just for Laughs in race 6. She has been very disappointing with some breathing issues. We are trying her over the minimum trip and hoping for improvement.

Elusive Jewel improved run in 3rd. She still needs to strengthen up, and when she does, she will be better over further.
Fort Dawn came back sore, so ignore this run.
Just For Laughs very disappointing- her work at home is much better than what she shows in races.
Three runners at Durbanville on Saturday.
Treasure Hunt in race 2. Very good run last time, and she is very consistent. Should be in the shakeup again from a decent draw.
Aussenkehr in race 3 should go close. Sir William looks the main danger of the raced runners.
Quasimodo in race 4. He is bred for this trip and should be competitive here. The consistent Global Forests is the one to beat but this is a handicap so upset quite possible.
Elusive Fort has had 3 winners in the past week, and in addition to Treasure Hunt and Aussenkehr, Shavout in race 6 must have a good chance of adding to his tally.
The race of the day is the Graduation race 8, where a number of likely Guineas hopes clash. Dave the King is my selection from Charles Dickens and Iconic Destination.

Another game run by Treasure Hunt in 3rd. Aussenkehr had every chance but found one better on the day. May appreciate blinkers. Quasimodo a bit one paced but stayed on for 3rd. Will win his races over ground as he matures.
Sadly, the clash between Dave the King and Charles Dickens did not occur as Dave was pulled out of the race and looked very awkward this track. Don't write him off although on a line through Iconic Destination, CD looks the better at this stage.
two runners at Greyville on Monday.
Umthombo Wolwazi runs in race 6. This is very soon after his last run and back on the poly. He tried the poly in June without success, but if he acts on the surface and if its not too soon after his previous run, then he looks progressive enough to be competitive.
Exceeder runs in the 7th. Also did not shape his first try on the poly, and will need to run to his turf form to be competitive.

Good win by Exceeder. It seems that some horses need a run on the poly to get used to it.
Umthombi Wolwazi coughing and not ridden out, but his second bad run this surface.
Just one runner at Fairview on Friday- Just for Laughs in race 6. We are scratching our heads- this filly has ability and works well at home but refuses to put in an effort at the track.
Two runners, both in race 5 at Durbanville on Saturday.
Sunlit from Heaven fair debut, and improvement expected as she has come on from that run and will prefer the longer trip. However, she does not yet have a rating, so has to carry 60kg which is a tough ask against Jazbella, Jam Jam and Fly Better.
Lady Renee gets the benefit of bottom weight, and a reasonable draw. Last time the jockey chased her up early from a wide draw and then he dropped his hands the last 300m and did not ride her out. No comments by the stipes which is rather surprising. So although she is under sufferance, if she is properly ridden, I believe that she now has the experience to be competitive at the weights. Throw into quartets at long odds.

Sunlit From Heaven was carried out on the bend and then dropped out to avoid running too wide. Ran on strongly from the tail of the field. If she can get a draw her next start will be one to follow.
Lady Renee very poor effort.
Two runners at Durbanville on Wednesday. * Everlasting runs in race 1. Much improved run last time and should again have a money chance. This is quite a competitive field and she does not have a great draw so needs a bit of luck in the running. Brett Crawford has a strong hand with Allende the one to beat from a nice draw. Ygritte good KZN form but a horrible draw. Quite a few lightly raced that can improve to win.
Nothingelsematters runs in Race 6. He was a very unlucky loser last time and picked up a 1kg penalty. Gets a plum draw and I think that he is still on the up and is the one to beat. Closely handicapped field.

Another decent run from Everlasting. Had to do quite a lot early to overcome the draw, and just failed to hold on to third place. The winner and runner up were too good for this field.
Nothingelsematters was too far out of his ground and only able to get a clear run when too late. Again flew at them. I look forward to seeing him on the Kenilworth summer course over more ground.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. Mhlabeni in race 5. Now steps up in class but is in good form and has an ew shout at the weights in a competitive field.
We now have 10 foals on the ground- first 5 were colts and then 5 fillies in a row. All good so far.
Elusive Fort has covered 24 mares in the first month of the season, including the dam of Kommetdieding.

Mhlabeni another good run in 2nd.
Two runners at Durbanville on Wednesday.
Beau Kala runs in race 3. Has not shown much so far, and although on bottom weight which will assist her, she is still 3kg under sufferance and has a wide draw to overcome.
Quasimodo in race 4. Under these weight conditions must have a lively each way chance. Stable companion Future Turn has been priced up favourite, and Fourie rides that one. He could not make the weight on Quasimodo so did not have to choose between the two, but 5kg is a lot to give away to a fellow 3yo over this trip. Quasimodo is a bit one paced, so needs an honest pace to show his best.

Much improved run by Beau Kala to almost cause a huge upset, but she was carrying a paper weight so will need to improve further to win a proper maiden in CT.
Quasimodo faded tamely- very disappointing run.
One runner at Vaal Thursday.
Sound of Warning in race 6. Strong field but most, including her, making seasonal debuts in prep for bigger races, so fitness will be key.
1 runner at Fairview on Friday.
*Miss Jacqueline in race 6. Has lost form and can't get too many more chances- bad draw here.
1 runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Umthombo Wolwazi runs in race 9. 1kg under sufferance, but hopefully can bounce back from poor poly run in KZN. On breeding, the step up in trip should suit.

4 runners at Fairview on Friday.
*Elusive Jewel in race 3. Tough task for the 3yos this trip. She is progressing steadily and has an outside place chance.
Mhlabeni runs in race 5. Very consistent and again has an ew chance in a very competitive race.
*Jean Paul and Gentleman both run in race 8. Again a very competitive race where just about anything can win. Jean Paul was a bit disappointing last time, but runs well for this jockey. Good ew chance at quite generous odds.
Gentleman was off the track for quite a while, but a fair comeback run last time. With a little bit of improvement he could pop up. he is a big price and looks the value ew play with a strong jockey booking.

Another excellent run by Mhlabeni- looked a winner and just caught late. Mackenzie an underrated trainer.
Jean Paul a solid effort in third having made all the running.
Elusive Jewel had a tough task at the weights, but the ride was very poor. Chased her without cover and very wide, and not surprisingly faded out. The problem for the owners is that we learn nothing useful.
Gentleman scratched at the start.
Some nice runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
race 1 Aussenkehr has been consistent and must have a good ew chance. Inside Story and Captain Casanova have plenty scope for improvement after decent debuts. William The Red better debut that it looks on paper as he was drawn in the bush. Gimme's Laddie and Charlie Malone have useful form and can be involved in the finish.
race 2 *Everlasting had some issues her first two runs, but those are sorted, and she has a good ew chance. Ygritte had excellent juvenile form in KZN and is the highest rated filly. Excuses when needing it last time and drawn very wide. I think that she is the one to beat despite the betting.
Red Sash has been priced up favourite after two good runs, but her price is too short.
Race 4 Beau Kala and * Sunlit from Heaven line up in an open MSW. Beau Kala good run last time off bottom weight and again can make her presence felt from a good draw and a low weight. Sunlit is progressing with every run and will enjoy the step up in trip. She does not yet have a rating so needs further improvement to score at the weights, but I'm hopeful that she can be in the money. We have 4 lengths to find on the strong favourite which is tough but not impossible. Allende and Typeface have solid form and will both be involved in the finish.

Aussenkehr just touched off by the first timer after leading the whole way. Ironically the winner is a full brother to Crimson King in which I have a share.
Everlasting had every chance and looked dangerous for a while before fading tamely inside the last 100m. Disappointing effort.
Sunlit From Heaven was too far back early and ran on very well. Was giving weight to most of those who beat her. Will not be long in picking up a maiden win.
Beau Kala snuck into 4th but was carrying little weight so needs to improve.
One runner at Greyville on Sunday. *Pascali runs in race 2. He is a big horse and will need the experience and further. Not expecting too much on debut. See It Again has had two good runs behind decent sorts and should doddle the race.
