Good win by Quasimodo. Another very game run by Mhlabeni in 2nd.
Flat run by Elusive Jewel.

Another 2nd for Aussenkehr. Very good debut by Golden Tatjana- close up 3rd.

Pascali very disappointing- maybe the going did not suit.

One runner on Boxing Day at Greyville. Sound of Warning in the Flamboyant Stakes. Should win comfortably.

Wishing all a Merry Christmas and a great 2023.

Two runners at Vaal Tuesday
Celtic Rumours in race 2. Should blow this field away.
Umthombo Wolwazi in race 7. A competitive handicap, but he seems best over the minimum trip, unlike his siblings, and so must have a decent chance of scoring the double.

One runner at Scottsville on Wednesday, weather permitting.
Exceeder runs in race 5. He does not appear to act in the soft going so even if they race I don’t expect much. If switched to poly would be competitive.

One runner at Vaal on Thursday
Understated in race 6. Two very poor runs since maiden win, and now down in the ratings. Can upset if finding best form.

My trainer is clearly much smarter than I am!
Very pleasing win by Pascali and a good ride from that draw. I didn't have a penny on him, but very happy nonetheless. We can't get too excited yet as Lazy Guy, the runner up, is a professional 5yo maiden rated 69, so we ran a 78.
Muthi, I agree that there is some speed in the mare's 2nd and 3rd dams, but she is by Dynasty out of a Jet Master mare, and she won over 1600m, and was clearly looking for further when her career was cut short by injury. Ideal World as we know is a stamina sire. I am pretty sure that we will see the best of Pascali at 2000m next year.

A good catalogue boost for the yearling half sister by Master of My Fate on the January 12th Cape sale.

.....a further boost to that ped page is that the genetic relative Jimmy Don is now a small black type winner of the most recent listed Secretariat stakes on the week end.....;)

Lovely double at the Vaal. Both look progressive and won’t stop here.

Four runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
Helen’s Legacy in race 2. She hurt herself last time and has been given time to get over it. If not needing the run should be competitive here.
Nothingelsematters and *Major Winter in race 4. Very open race. Nothingelsematters should be in the shakeup. Major Winter has dropped further in the ratings, but is under sufferance here. Needs to improve, and there is a more suitable race for him in 3 weeks time.
*Treasure Hunt in race 6. She is very game and consistent, and won well last time. This is a bit stronger and she is up a bit in the weights. She is fit and well and I’m expecting another good run.

The Flamboyant stakes is now being run on Sunday at Greyville, and Sound of Warning should win. next best is Canadian Summer.

The pages are finalised well in advance for the printed catalogue.
The depth to which they go further back in the pedigree is decided by the compilers.
Catalogue updates will be publicised but the online catalogue will stay the same as the printed one.
We are asked to review the pages but I was late in responding and missed the deadline.

Disappointing last meeting of 2022 with only one 4th place from the 4 runners, and Helen’s Legacy again hurting herself.
Sound of Warning also very disappointing on Sunday.

One runner at Kenilworth on Tuesday. *Sunlit from Heaven in the 5th race. She is down 6 points in the ratings, but still not well in against a few others on her last couple of runs. She is working fine and we are expecting a decent run, but I will be happy if she runs a place. The stable companion has the services of the stable jockey and is preferred.

One runner at Fairview on Friday. Gentleman runs in race 5. He is down in the ratings and can be competitive in this open lineup.

Two runners on Saturday at Kenilworth. Aussenkehr runs in race 2 and is overdue his maiden win. Will win if this is not too short.
Golden Tatjana runs in the 3rd. A very competitive race but she put up a very good debut and can progress from there. Must have an ew shout at the weights.

Super win by Golden Tatjana.
Very poor by Aussenkehr, and not a peep from the stipes.

Our current strike rate is good, with 7 winners from that last 30 runners.

The Cape Premier Sale was very strong at the top end. We did ok with an average of R200k for our six, but I was hoping for more from a few of ours.

3 runners at Fairview Friday.
* Elusive Jewel in race 3. She needs to improve a lot to feature, and I'm just hoping for some improvement back on the turf.
Power Surge (partnership bred) runs in race 5. Very open race and has an ew shout.
*Jean Paul runs in race 8. He is much better on turf and I'm expecting him to bounce back to form after having to run on poly the last few runs. Open race, but don't leave him out.

One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday- *Everlasting in race 7. An open race, and Fourie has opted to ride something else, but I'm hoping that his agent has made the wrong call. She is fit and well and has a good ew chance.

One runner at Scottsville on Sunday. *Pascali runs in race 7. Back down in trip, and if repeating his penultimate effort, can win. The weather has played havoc with the training tracks in KZN the past few weeks, so ignore his last poor run.

Dismal runs from ours the past few days.

One runner at Turffontein on Monday. JP Twothousand runs in the 5th. Poor run last time for new stable after the break, and hopefully will bounce back.

One runner at Greyville on Wednesday. Exceeder returns to the poly after two poor runs on turf in heavy going. Should do much better.

Two runners on Thursday at Vaal.
Umthombo Wolwazi goes for his hat trick in the 5th. Hopefully more improvement to come.
Celtic Rumours runs in the 7th. Improved last time when stepping up in trip so a bit surprising to see her back over 1200m. Still has plenty of scope for improvement and despite the trip must have a good winning chance.

Exceeder 4th, Umthombo Wolwazi and Celtic Rumours 2nd.

Two runners at Kenilworth on Saturday, both in race 8.
Nothingelsematters looks well weighted but a poor draw. A very competitive race with quite a few improving 3yo stayers, but he should be running on and at 16/1 is good ew value.
*Major Winter is battling to regain form and is now at such a low rating that he runs under sufferance. Will decide on his future after this run.

One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. Understated runs in race 5. Also battling since his maiden win and needs to find improvement. 2nd run after a year off the track.
