Very happy with Pascali debut run- was green but ran on well in 5th. With natural progression will not be too long in winning his maiden.
One runner at turffontein on Monday. Sound of Warning (jointly bred) in race 7. Carries a big mass in a competitive field. Should have come on from last run, and should be in the mix. Full Velocity and Gobsmacked look the two to beat.
The mare foaled a Gimmethegreenlight colt this morning, so maybe that's a good luck omen.
As per the stipes report posted by Sylvester, the winner of the Champagne Stakes gr 3 in July 2022 was disqualified. Major Attraction which I bred was touched off for second, and gets promoted. While never a nice way to get awarded a race, Major Attraction has been retired to stud by the connections after a number of close misses at landing a graded race, and this will enhance her paddock value.

Two runners at Fairview on Friday
*Fort Dawn runs in race 3. Green Mandarin and Copernicus, if fit and well after the break, look too strong for this field. Perfection improved second run and can improve further to challenge. Fort Dawn is limited and at best could sneak a minor place.
Gentleman in race 9. He was withdrawn at the start (lame) 10 days ago. Off his current rating he should be competitive if fit and well.

Been a busy week so missed a few posts.
No shows at Fairview last Friday by Gentleman and Fort Dawn.
Nice run by Treasure Hunt placed 3rd at Kenilworth on Sunday. I thought that Nothingelsematters was a shoo- in over the 2200m, but again out of his ground and this time lacked the usual finish to only get 4th. Rather disappointing.
Moderate effort by Beau Kala.
Exceeder good run at Greyville on Tuesday in 2nd. Looked a winner and run out of it late.
Sadly, had to euthanase Just For Laughs today, broke her hip soon after the start.
On Saturday at Kenilworth just one runner. Bought *Major Winter at the Dispersal sale at the end of September. We have had to feed him up the past few weeks- arrived here in CT as thin as a rake which was quite shocking. Perhaps explains why so far the performances of horses off that sale have been pathetic in their new yards.
He gets his first local run in race 9 at Kenilworth on Saturday. Unfortunately a wide draw to contend with and first time running left handed. He has been putting in some pleasing work but has not been given a grass gallop. We don’t really know what to expect. Will need luck from the draw and quite likely to need this run as he was off for a year and just one comeback run in September in Jhb, which wasn’t bad. However, he is down in the ratings and the TLC over the past few weeks must help. The winner is likely to come from one of the 3yos.
One runner at Greyville on Sunday. *Pascali has his second run in race 8. Was very green on debut and has definitely come on with the benefit of that run. The 1600m will suit. There are two strong contenders in Political Party and Averni King. Hoping that we can improve enough to sneak a place.

Nice improvement by Pascali to run close up 3rd. Should not be long in winning a maiden.
Major Winter needed the run more than I thought and also was outpaced. Will come on from that but looks like he needs a mile or more.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. I Am Who I Am in race 8. Showed some promise last season and if fit after the break could run into the money. National Star looks hard to oppose, but otherwise not much to beat amongst those that have raced. A few unknown first timers to watch out for.
Exceeder runs in the 5th at Greyville on Wednesday. If not too soon after his last run, then should again be competitive and a strong winning chance. The step up in trip will suit him.

Vaal washed out and now on Tuesday 15th.
Exceeder looked like the run came too soon after previous as he faded tamely.
One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday. Everlasting runs in race 1. With the scratching of Head Girl, we just have Electric Feels to beat of those that have raced. First Timers could be anything.
We are trying the drop back to 1000m as suggested by Khumalo after her last run, and hopefully that does the trick. She is fit and well and gets Fourie which is a big plus. There is a tailwind today so I'm less concerned about the draw, and our main opponent is also drawn to the outside.
I think that we have a good winning chance today.

Nice win by Everlasting- top ride by Richard Fourie.
The exacta with the favourite paid an amazing R8.90.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday, I Am Who I Am in race 8. Hopefully they do get to race this time. If she doesn’t need the run must have a money chance.
One runner at Fairview also on Tuesday. The ever consistent Mhlabeni runs in the 7th. Always in with a chance in a competitive field. Beaten by the draw last time and now gets a good draw and his ideal trip.
On Wednesday, 2 runners at Kenilworth. Aussenkehr runs in the first. He and Gimme’s Laddie are the two best horses in the race but there are a couple to whom they have to give chunks of weight. He is overdue for his maiden win and hopefully can score this time.
*Major Winter runs in the 4th. Has been dropped a couple of pounds, and should be better this trip. Unfortunately gets another wide draw. Just hoping to see an improved run from him.

PeterD you were correct on you preview w.r.t. Race 1 the horse you breed is giving chunks of weight, actually it give 9,5kg to the winner Tuscon Gold.
IMO owners should buy cheap horses because the operators will assist the cheaper horses to win races. The top pedigrees and generally expensive horses won't get much assistance. A frugal decision by owners are to buy cheap horses operators will make it possible for them to win at the expense of the form or good horses.

I'm not saying all expenses or good pedigree horses are good.

The winner of Race 1, Tuscan Gold, is from the family of Capetown Noir. Its two runs down the straight it showed pace and faded.

Another good win by Mhlabeni gave the mare Field Flower a double for the week with Everlasting's win.
I am Who I Am a fair 4th and that run should have brought her on.
Aussenkehr pipped by the favourite but neither could give 9.5kg to the winner, although a good run by Sands' first timer in 2nd which is one for the notebook.
Major Winter still struggling to find his feet in CT, but was caught very wide around the turn so watch him for a much improved effort next time if we can get a draw.
A couple of runners at Fairview on Friday.
*Elusive Jewel in race 2. Bumps a weak field and should do much better than last time when chased around the field and then faded. Maiguru, St Patrick's Day and Alyeska have some form, but I'm expecting to run in the first 3.
*Jean Paul runs in race 8. He is better on turf, but only poly racing for a while so we have to have a go. It all depends on whether he can improve on previous poly efforts.
One runner at Turffontein on Friday. JP Twothousand runs in the 10th.
He comes off a long break and the ex P Peter horses have not done well. Hopefully he can run a decent race if not needing it.
One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday. *Sunlit From Heaven runs in race 3. she is making steady improvement and should enjoy the long run in. I think has a money chance despite the wide draw.. Stable companion Allende is overdue a maiden win and is the one to beat.

Elusive Jewel is improving steadily as she strengthens up, but still has a way to go.
Jean Paul is not effective on the poly.
JP Twothousand looked in need of the run and continues the poor results of the ex Peter runners.
Sunlit from Heaven was disappointing, but the Cape Crawl did not help her chances from a bad draw. Stuck in behind when it turned into a sprint. She is much better than that run.
One runner at Kenilworth on Wednesday. Nothingelsematters has been disappointing since his maiden win, but the new course with its long run in should suit, and I’m going to side with him once again in race 5.
He is 2kg worse off with Policy Target and Mister Monocle which look well weighted, and so does need to improve.
One runner at the Vaal on Thursday- Umthombo Wolwazi in the 7th. Very poor last two, so really needs to bounce back to best to have any sort of chance.

Nothingelsematters is frustrating to follow as he always gets too far out of his ground and arrives too late on the scene, albeit with an impressive finishing effort.
Not a bad comeback run by Umthombo. Seemed to need it a bit and may be a proposition next time.
Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Celtic Rumours in race 2 is a half sister by top sire Vercingetorix to the very speedy and classy Sarah. I doubt if Tarry would bring her out on a big day unless she’s ready to run a big race as he has been very patient with her. She is eligible for the Gold Rush and running out of time to get a spot there. I will be watching with keen interest. This race is very tricky as the first timers are unknown quantities. The ew value I think is Slinky Mapimpi which ran two excellent races as a juvenile which is the strongest form of the raced runners and shouldn’t be 10/1.
The top class Sound of Warning (bred in partnership) runs in the Merchants race 5. This is a very competitive race and she has to give weight to all except Big Burn. Very impressive run last time giving 10kg to the smart Gobsmacked. The fillies look to dominate this race, with not much between SOW, BB, Desert Miracle and Moonshiningthrough. If one of the boys were to win I think it’s the bottom weights Winter Flight or Tread Swiftly.
One runner at Kenilworth on Sunday. *Everlasting runs in race 8. Won her maiden last time over course and trip and again gets the advantage of Richard Fourie riding. Looks a very open race with quite a few unexposed fillies that have won their maidens after just a couple of starts and have scope to improve significantly. I’m expecting another good run from her, but difficult to be confident of winning an open contest.
