Nice debut by Celtic Rumours- green, running on in what looked a decent maiden field. Should go close next time.
Disappointing run by Sound of Warning.
Pleasing post maiden run by Everlasting in 3rd. Pinged the gates and led all the way until caught late by the two that had enjoyed cover and were getting weight.
One runner at Vaal on Tuesday. I Am Who I Am in race 4. If not too close to her previous run, with the benefit of the 4kg claim must have an ew shout at decent odds.
One runner at Scottsville on Wednesday- *Pascali in race 3. I don’t agree with the trainer tactics in bringing him back to a sprint. He should be running in the 1750m, where he would have been a big runner. I expect him to be outpaced and can’t expect anything except a training gallop this trip.

.....@Peter..... one should not be too perturbed about trying to shed a maiden tag too quickly... when they can still earn while they learn....I really like this pedigree as it is classic and proven affinity with Ideal World across the SW influence even that far back... and you are correct that the pedigree may suggest a distance beyond a 6F dash, however the dam line did show adequate speed and your trainer is pretty intuitive and may be testing this genome.....also hoping he gets to be taught a bit of gate speed on this outing and if so should be able to still earn a cheque.....

I am baffled- he should be 20/1 or higher.
We are running him despite the disadvantageous draw to give him a good gallop so that when the next suitable race comes around he will have the benefit under the belt.

.....GP very intuitive indeed.... but also I knew there was speed....pity the price was not the best... but also should be versatile and follow up....

My trainer is clearly much smarter than I am!
Very pleasing win by Pascali and a good ride from that draw. I didn't have a penny on him, but very happy nonetheless. We can't get too excited yet as Lazy Guy, the runner up, is a professional 5yo maiden rated 69, so we ran a 78.
Muthi, I agree that there is some speed in the mare's 2nd and 3rd dams, but she is by Dynasty out of a Jet Master mare, and she won over 1600m, and was clearly looking for further when her career was cut short by injury. Ideal World as we know is a stamina sire. I am pretty sure that we will see the best of Pascali at 2000m next year.
A good catalogue boost for the yearling half sister by Master of My Fate on the January 12th Cape sale.

Thank you Peter and well done.
It's certainly better getting a surprise than expecting the win and getting well beat.

......although he did not beat much he should be progressive and win a few heats up to 1600m confidently.....however genome is largely determined by the mitochondrial trial more predominantly on the dam line and the sires influence is not always going to change it that dramatically.....I only had a wee EW and limited due to the draw but if it was run at Scottsville would have had much more.... .

One runner at Fairview on Friday
Quasimodo has relocated from CT and runs in race 4. If he takes to the poly should be competitive

Good one Dave. I didn’t name him.
Good first run on the poly. Very unlucky loser, as he lost a few lengths at the start, and was carried in by the winner in the latter stages. I’m obviously biased, but I thought merit in the objection.
Will win next time.
One runner at Kenilworth on Saturday. The game and consistent *Treasure Hunt runs in race 4. Very competitive race but she can never be ignored. Queen of Sparta looks the one to beat.
One runner at Turffontein on Saturday. Umthombo Wolwazi in race 6. Ran an improved race last time, but a strong and open race. Drops back to 1000m. Seems a tough task.
Will be shouting for Kommetdieding to take advantage of Jet Dark’s absence in the Greenpoint.
