In race 3 at Vaal on Tuesday, Elusive Justice has been priced up favourite on debut.
We raced the dam, Final Judgement which won the Golden Slipper 1400m Gr 2 ( in prior years was a Gr 1 race).
We sold her in foal to Elusive Fort to Varsfontein and this is her first foal.
Was a nice looking yearling at the sales and this does not look the strongest of fields.

Another very good run by Golden Tatjana on Saturday in the juvenile feature.
Three runners on Tuesday at Kenilworth.
*Lady Renee returns from a break in the first. After a series of wrong vet diagnoses, have found that she was continually in season, and we think that we now have that sorted. Hopefully that was the reason why she never brought her homework to the track, She may need this run and the Fillies MSW race was cancelled so so she runs here. Hoping to see considerable improvement but this is a comeback run and she needs further.
*Treasure Hunt runs in the 6th over her favourite distance. She had a rare off day last time and I'm expecting a better effort in an open race.
*Everlasting runs in the 9th. She was disappointing last time when failing to kick on, but hoping that with the light weight she can bounce back and be competitive here.
Almost a fairy tale ending for Elusive Fort's star son Kommetdieding, which ran a great race in defeat when pipped on the post by his regular rival, Jet Dark.

Lady Renee outpaced but some improvement.
Treasure Hunt well placed but did not kick on. Giving her a short rest on the farm now.
Everlasting very good run in 3rd- led most of the way and caught late.
One runner at Scottsville on Wednesday. *Pascali in race 5. His two post maiden runs have been poor. Hoping that he can bounce back. Lillybelle is very well in at the weights and should win this. Paris Pike next best. I will be happy if we can run a place.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Umthombo Wolwazi takes on a strong field, but with a handy galloping weight he should fight out the finish.

Pascali took a bump from the horses on either side as they jumped towards him at the start. He was thus a few lengths further back than would have been the case from a nice draw. He ran on nicely, just behind the placed horses although well beaten by the progressive winner.
Umthombo Wolwazi ran another solid race but found one too good on the day. Very honest and consistent over the minimum trip.
He has a half sister by Pomodoro on the Cape Yearling sale in 3 weeks time. All four of the mare's runners are winners, and this is a very good family, so she has paddock value as well.
One runner at Fairview on Friday- Quasimodo runs in race 8.He has run two good races on the poly, but prior to that ran some fair races on the turf in CT. He must have a decent chance of following up, but must overcome a wide draw in an open race. Heathcliff is probably the one to beat, and Dave's Humble Tune showed a welcome return to form last time so could also be thereabouts.
Quasimodo also has a half sibling on the Cape sale- an Elusive Fort colt, and also well worth a look as the mare has had a winner by Elusive Fort , so the cross works.

One runner at Scottsville on Wednesday. Exceeder runs in race 5. He has flopped on soft turf, and I see that there is quite a bit of rain forecast. If the going is good then he can be thereabouts but I don’t fancy his chances if it comes up soft. A switch to poly would suit him, although he does prefer further.
One runner on Thursday at Vaal in race 6. Understated a poor run last time, and will need to show drastic improvement.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Gentleman runs in race 5 and is battling to regain form.
Mhlabeni runs in race 7. He is very consistent on both surfaces and should again be in the shakeup.

Improved run by Exceeder, close up 3rd. Also much improved by Understated beaten 2L 5th. Sadly, The stirrup leather broke on Mhlabeni and the rider came down. Fortunately avoided serious injury.
Two runners at Kenilworth on Saturday.
*Lady Renee runs in the 2nd race. I'm not a fan of these MSW, but as an owner will take advantage where possible. We believe that we are on top of her issues and hence her first 4 poor runs can be ignored. In an ordinary Maiden last time she was outpaced over the 1000m as expected, but was running on nicely. With bottom weight of 50kg and the extra 200m, she just has to run to a rating of 55 to be competitive. Prior to the scratchings she was at 50/1 which was too generous and I had an ew on her. Now there are only 7 runners so only 2 places. She is now at 14/1 and still worth putting in the pick 6 and other exotics. Go Like Flo is the best filly in the race but must carry top weight. Jade's Cabernet fair debut but also top weight so looks held. Eleodoro also fair form but held by the favourite. Mari Marie is bottom of the boards but can win at the weights on best form. Hunredfifthavenue also has a shout at the weights.
*Everlasting runs in race 7. This is a very open race and just about anything can win. She bounced back last time under a low weight and was only caught late after making all the running. She is again in with an ew chance. The stable companion Porque Te Vas is 1.5kg better in against us than in a handicap so must be respected.
One runner at Turffontein on Sunday, weather permitting. Aussenkehr has relocated to Gauteng and is way overdue his maiden win.

Good improvement by Lady Renee in deadheat for 2nd. She was carrying a paperweight so hopefully there is further improvement to come.
Everlasting missed the break and lost at least 5L at the start. She was making up ground in the final 300m but Veale on Wordsworth changed his stick to his left hand, swung wildly, and cracked her across the nose. She understandably ducked away, which impeded Rock on Tommy, and she was pulled out of the race. She returned cut into and pulled a shoe in the process. Hopefully she is ok and this run can safely be ignored. An upsetting end to the day.

Two runners at Fairview on Friday.
*Elusive Jewel in race 4. She carries a low weight which gives her a chance, but has a tough draw to overcome and would prefer a bit further. Blinkers have been fitted to sharpen her up.
*Jean Paul in race 8. I was expecting much better last time returning to turf, but ran a shocker. His best runs have been this course and distance and hoping that he bounces back. Very open race and anything could win.
One runner at Turffontein on Saturday, weather permitting. Celtic Rumours runs in race 9. Was outpaced by the winner over 1200m last time, and this distance suits. A wide draw but should go close.

Elusive Jewel made the most of her low weight, looping the field and setting the pace. Was caught late and held on for a fair fourth.
Hopefully the rain disruptions are over for a while.
Celtic Rumours gets her run today at Turffontein race 9, instead of last Saturday. There are a few unexposed lightly raced runners that are hard to assess, but I think that she will be competitive this distance, and she should have further scope for improvement.
JP Two Thousand runs on Thursday at Turffontein race 9, and needs to regain his earlier form from prior to a lengthy break. On best form he should be competitive.

We have 5 yearlings on the BSA Cape Yearling Sale at Kenilworth on Sunday 26th February.
They will arrive at the venue on Thursday morning, so viewing from Thursday afternoon. Stable block E.
Lot 47 Colt by Master of My Fate out of Step Out. First foal of a winning Silvano mare, whose promising career was cut short by injury. Grand dam is Boston Tea Party, a prolific producer of winners, including Solid Speed (Gr 2 Greyville 1900). Family of Lady in Black, Nexus, Lizarre. A stunning first foal, he has a lovely shoulder and hindquarter, and an elastic stride.
Lot 61 Colt by Elusive Fort out of Victorine (by Centenary). Dam won 4 and has produced 4 winners. He is the only colt by Elusive Fort on this sale. He is well grown, despite being a November foal, he is tall and leggy, stands over good ground and has a deep girth. Correct and moves well.
The 3 yo half brother, Quasimodo, by Quasillo, is now a winner since the catalogue was printed.
Lot 74 Colt by Captain of All, out of African Honey. Dam is a half sister to African Adventure. A very strong colt, he is a good walker, with solid bone, and is correct. Attractive, athletic colt, with a deep girth.
Lot 141 Filly by Quasillo out of Julila.( NB Catalogue error shows it as a colt),
The dam has thrown 4 winners from 6 runners. Quasillo has few runners due to his low fertility, but has an exceptional strike rate and stamps his foals with his own good looks.
Strongly built filly, that is well balanced and walks well.
Lot 145 Filly by Pomodoro out of Konfessional. The dam won two, and comes from a fabulous family, being a granddaughter of Secret Pact, which was an own sister to London News and the dam of Secret Heart, Promisefrommyheart and Covenant. The family of sires Master of My Fate, Malmoos and Erik the Red.
The mare has 100% record with 4 winners from 4 runners, including Encryption (listed placed) and Umthombo Wolwazi, now a winner of 3.
A well made filly, that is a lovely walker, and looks speedy and precocious, with obvious paddock value..

Re: Black Swan Stud Busy few days ahead

A very smart win by Celtic Rumours- lost 5 lengths after stumbling when coming out the pens, yet still got up to win quite easily. The two lightly raced recent winners followed her home and she probably ran a bit above the 91 she has been given, but has received the max 8 point raise. Adjusting for the ground she gave away at the start, she could easily be MR100 already, so if she runs in a handicap next time will be very hard to beat.
Its a pity that she did not come to hand a couple of months earlier, or she could have been a real contender in the Gold Rush.
I think that she is now a very exciting prospect, and would hope that she can move up into the graded races quite soon.
JP Twothousand still way below best.
One runner on Saturday at Kenilworth- Golden Tatjana in the Nursery race 6. A tough field but she has a realistic ew chance.
One runner at Turffontein on Sunday. Aussenkehr has relocated from CT where he was a regular runner- up against stronger. His last run in the WR can be ignored. He has just one horse to beat- Poursomesugaronme, and these two should be well clear of the balance.
