Starting the thread (early), reason being, a horse i found has continuously shortened, not my money, and will start even shorter come race time.
I fancy the double :-
R2) Future Turn X (R3) Teardrop.
R2), Future Turn, the one i fancy opened 14/10 and now trades at 1/1 (at HW) - 14/10 available at WSB (at time of writing). Probably needed it’s last run, betting would suggest so (7/2 out to 11/2, depending on who you choose to believe). Think the Snaith stable will have a line on Royal Port Louis through Rule Of Thumb. The combination are firing right now. Most probably start in the red.
R3), Teardrop, third run after the rest should be cherry ripe. Was supported last time out, probably beaten by the draw and the second run after the rest syndrome. From stall gate 2, if employing similar front running tactics, might prove difficult to peg back.

Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

TOTE BANKERS:
Race 1: #5 FORT APACHE – Bipot
Race 2: #2 FUTURE TURN – Bipot and Place Accumulator
Race 4: #3 ICONIC DESTINATION – Bipot and Place Accumulator
Race 7: #3 MAJOR ATTRACTION – all bets
Race 1: Maiden Juvenile 1000m
#5 FORT APACHE (1-1) has shown good natural pace in both his starts over 1200m. I am always cautious when horses drop back to 1000m after having shown pace over 1200m because I have found that the 1000m can often catch them out, but in a race that looks devoid of speed I think he’ll get away with it in this instance. In fact, this time around I think it’s exactly what he wants. His dam had decent ability and won her five races all over sprints, and all of her progeny have won sprints. He’s the one to beat. #2 CHARLIE MALONE (18-10) is actually marginally better than #5 in terms of ratings, but I think he’s looking for further than 1000m. His dam won from 1200-2400m and most of her progeny have only really shown their best once going 1600m+. #2 ran well over this CD last time, but the pace was hot from the start and he only really got going within the last 200m when the front runners were stopping. The pen was soft at 27 that day too, whilst it’s going to be slightly firmer today at 25 and I think the softer track helped his cause over the trip last time. My conclusion is that #5 FORT APACHE will be able to outpace #2 over this trip. Of the first-timers, #6 HAMMIES HERO (25-1) looks like he may have pace, but none of the other first-timers seem like 1000m will suit them and I expect a raced horse to take this.
I would start the day with a bet on #5 FORT APACHE. He’s TODAY’S BEST BET.
SELECTION: 5
