Very interesting how this TC02 testing has has a dramatic impact on SA racing.

Initially used to target Paul and Tony Peter yards, now catching other yards and creating major pain for exotic punters and i imagine bookies reductions.

What is sad is that the NHRA/ 4RACING/Cape Racing( which probably need to own part of this situation) and the entity run by Rivalland are all being very quiet.

Perhaps ABC need to take the lead and go to bat for the Punters.
Does this testing before the race happens anywhere else in the world ? I don't see any horses worldwide being scratched before the race for this reason .

The scratching of a horse because of high levels of TC02 can not fall under the “rub of the green” regulations, so where does it fall? as this condition is already there or is going to be there  prior to a punter taking a bet simply because the authorities claim that it’s a blatant deliberate act of a trainers . It actually makes the declaration of scratchings prior to racing meaningless . It’s basically broad day robbery especially in the exotic permutations bets because in single race bet you can change or cancel the bet. While in the other you can’t. This can’t not be legal sound. Absolutely unjustifiable as it’s not a  case of horse bolting, getting injured or whatever rub of the green” is defined in horse racing. it’s an act deliberately caused by a conditioner of that horse or that is what the authorities are saying. it’s basic doping. Those exotic bets are compromised whatever they say and the odds are skewed against the punter .

The PA , P6 , JP and BP are now a lottery. Exactas  / Trifectas / Quartets after horses have been saddled is the way to play now .

Does the trainer get fined when the horse gets scratched?

It should be as easy as raising the TCO2 level reading a few notches higher to avoid all the scratchings until they can scientifically reproduce and prove doping. This entire exercise has essentially been a half ass@d headlong rush... knee jerk reaction... and now they want to vindicate the poor decision, instead of moving on.

At the moment there is no evidence the trainers are doing anything

FYI

There is a meeting on Monday and if the Cape trainers don't get a satisfactory outcome they say racing on Tuesday is in jeopardy (not a rumour)

It will be a laugh if elevated TCO2 levels prove to be an indication of horse wellness...

In my humble view, any horse scratched after the exotics have started should also qualify as part of the winning numbers...the nonsense of being lumped on the arbitrary new favourite does not serve punters well...and it's punters who fund the sport...

Your humble opinion is an excellent one, but don't expect those braindead feckers to use a bit of lateral thinking

.....and the saga continues with another 7 elevated positives at the recent meeting in the fairest cape.....and although the stipes report for this meeting is not as yet available for a fuller picture.... it is reported in the SP that 2 most highly respected trainers had 2 positives each....one of which as touted as a real good thing in the Gr3  Langermann ....gotta feel for this trainer as he has decided to skip the KZN season and concentrate on the Cape winter season....I doubt that he guilty of using any form of unfair advantage to get results.... yet here we are with that NHRA tar brush....and a massive reaction again....plenty more with suggestions that could be of no more benefit to finding a solution..... and even more making comments and not understanding the situation..... the procedure.... the equipment ....thee  reasoning ....and now the increased costs....iow many believing the smartly crafted rationale of those in charge at our local racing regulators.....how do they warrant this increased expenditure.... that is in no way ever going to create any form of revenue....
