Musselburgh will inspect conditions for a second time at 10am with Tuesday's jumps fixture looking in doubt with the ground frozen in places.

Temperatures dropped to -2C overnight but it is forecast to reach as high as 7C by midday.

The seven-race card is the only jumps action in Britain and Ireland today.

On Monday, clerk of the course Rory Innes said he was "very optimistic" but overnight temperatures were lower than forecast.

Musselburgh will inspect for a third time at 12pm with the ground still frozen in places for Tuesday's jumps fixture but with the frost beginning to melt.

Clerk of the course Rory Innes said there was a "50:50" chance of the meeting going ahead earlier this morning, and the situation is reportedly improving with temperatures rising.

They should run although there was a frost this morning rain expected though. Temp now is 7 so track should be fine to race on

It’s now straight to Cheltenham for Constitution Hill where he is 1/5 fav for the Champion Hurdle.

Energumene and Edwardstone are the headline acts in the Gr1 Clarence House Chase at Ascot on January 21.
