Cheltenham’s Ryanair Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle is the likely target for the loveable Gp1 flat race winner Princess Zoe.

English raiders Ventura Tormenta and Mordred will be running on the ice at St Moritz this Sunday. Middleham Park Racing (MPR) also have Stepney Causeway who will be targeted for the Gr2 Grosser Preis von St Moritz next Sunday. MPR won that race with Mordred last year. RIP

The brilliant Baracouda, who won back-to-back Stayers' Hurdles in 2002 and 2003, has died at the age of 28 at his owner JP McManus's Martinstown stud in Ireland.

Baracouda was part of a golden generation of staying hurdlers in the early part of the 2000s and beat Iris's Gift and Limestone Lad in what was hailed as one of the best Stayers' Hurdles of the modern era in 2003.

The French-based Francois Doumen masterminded the career of Baracouda, who was ridden to 16 of his 18 victories by his son Thierry before Tony McCoy took over for the last two wins.

I read this article yesterday. Last year I asked if any French based horses won a Group 1 Race at the Cheltenham Festival. I now have my answer and they maybe more. Plenty of French breds have won.

The 15/10 fav Allaho for the RyanAir Chase at Chelt. has been withdrawn.

The 3rd fav for that race, Shishkin, is poised to run at Ascot on Saturday.

War in Heaven was a nice winner last night and

COLORS OF FREEDOM can do the same tonight at Newcastle going for 5 in a row at 7/2 .

ZONISTY is a blinder at Lingfield in the bumper but very short .

Following his 14-month ban for alcohol and Covid breaches, thrice champion Oisin Murphy returns to the saddle at Chelmsford on Thursday.

Following an injury that has kept him off the track since his Ascot Gold Cup win in 2021, Subjectivist is on course to make a return to action in a $2.5m handicap race on Saudi Cup day 25 Feb.

Saffron Beach has been retired after scope ends Saudi Cup hopes.
