Girl Racer is owned by Barnane Stud who is known as Ridgemont/Kieswetter family in South Africa.

The dam, In The Fast Lane, won the Cape Fillies Guineas and the Woolavington in South Africa and was exported to Australia. Looks like shes in Ireland now.

Algiers, the failed favourite in the Dubai World Cup, could be rested for a Breeders’ Cup race.

There was a heavy betting coup yesterday in the jumps that duly won at Wincanton. The horse, Ithaka, was 33s and ended up at one stage 3/1. What's concerning was that horse was formerly trained by an Irish trainer, Ron McNally, who is currently facing a 12 year ban for not running horses on merit. The 3 runs in the UK was dismal and so was its Irish form.

Tomorrow at Doncaster is the Lincoln that I think was formerly known as the Lincoln Handicap and which is traditionally the feature event to kickstart Britain's turf flat racing season. A typical large field of 20+ runners where the fav is a Frankel, Al Mubhir, at 4/1, or you can play a chord with Jimi Hendrix at 14/1.

Kyle Strydom, the nephew of South African hall of fame jockey Piere Strydom, will go under the spotlight at Lingfield on Friday when he takes his first ride in Britain.

The young rider, himself a former champion apprentice in South Africa, has recently joined Roger Varian's team in Newmarket with an eye to getting established but admits he is "starting at the back of the bus".

The 21-year-old has 103 winners to his name, which is around 5,400 shy of what his uncle, who is still going strong in the saddle at the age of 57, has achieved. Strydom junior is also steeped in racing from his more immediate family as his father Jacques is a trainer, as was his grandfather.

Cunha won about two or three days ago with Gold Medal, the first run for his stable. Kyle's partner is from the Cunha family

Our yard has had 5 runs in total in the UK in 2023 finishing 3-4-2-1-4. Could not be happier. It’s a tough place to get going. Kyle Strydom rode a cracker from an impossible draw yesterday at Lingfield on a bad horse, finishing 4th at 50/1. Good start for him. He has 2 rides for me on the 5th and 10th. Both should run well. Tomorrow at Doncaster is our best runner of the year so far, Faro De San Juan, watch him. He will love the mud.

We came here with no support and have clawed our way in from 3 horses to 18 now. Would be nice to get some SA support like Drakenstein and Kieswetter as they have horses here but we are working hard and the yards syndicates are all sold out and growing so it’s all positive back here in the UK with a good summer ahead.
