The end of season stats this year have more close finishes than we have seen for years.

The championship battle between Capt Al and Jet Master will go to the wire - champions day at Clairwood has fantastic runners for both.

Jallad edged his way a little closer on the damsire log again yesterday when Golden Ruse won the 6th in PE another Jallad mare.

Then of course the battle between the two Antons - Delpech and Markus. Add to this the battle between Snaith and Bass for 2nd spot on the trainers log. Don't you find it strange that 2nd, 3rd and 4th slots on the trainers log are held by Cape trainers - where stakes are lowest!

It's odd that Capt Al has so few runners in the Cape today. He normally has more. I think his best is Emmajo in the 5th. BUT on 30th July at Clairwood his card looks good. I fancy Emerald Cove on 30th and I know that Snaith is confident about her chances in the Gr1

Its closer than the jockey championship, do you have the balance of the runners over the next few days?

The race is so close it's tough to call. JM has two runners more than Captain Al carded mid-week. In fact Captain Al has one of the frustratingly lowest number of runners carded in a mid-week period for some time, just when we need them the most. He has a first timer in R2 at Kenilworth today maybe worth watching.

Fortunately Capt Al has a strong hand on champion’s day at Greyville and that is exactly what it is going to boil down to:- the penultimate day of the season! We pray for good weather and good results. our stallions have some interesting feature runners at Greyville:

Stern Line (Captain Al) and Ocean’s Swift (Captain Al) in the Gr1 Thekwini Stakes; Captain’s Wild (Captain Al), Power Lord (Dynasty) and Jeppe’s Reef (Jallad) in the Gr1 Canon Gold Cup; Captain’s Secret (Captain Al) and Sage Throne (Dynasty) in the Gr1 Champions Cup; as well as Emerald Cove (Captain Al), Beach Beauty (Dynasty) and Quick Single (Jallad) in the Gr2 Gold Bracelet.

i am holding thumbs so hard i think they gonna break! eish!

there is a query on the NHRA stats - they have one less winner recorded for Capt Al than Sporting Post and less stakes too. normally the two sources match results so it is going to be interesting to see how they resolve it. may have something to do with the Markus/Delpech deadheat at Clairwood on Saturday 16th - Race 9 when Delpech on Captain Al 2yo gelding Second Tycoon and Markus on import Unannounced shared 1st prize. i hope they find where the error is soon - would be bad to have any doubt about a difference if that is what it boils down to in the end.
