I just think Captain Al has turned out to be a super stallion and at good value.
Jet Master what he has achieved TO-DATE is un-matched but love the underdog. So go CA.

exactly - well said Sylvester - he has clawed his way up the ladder the hard way. we gave his services away in the first 5 years to get runners on the track. he has always been the best value for money of all of the sires

He just keeps finding more and more - good for him. I pray for good weather tomoro in PE and in Durban - crucial - would be unfair if those races were not included in the final tally cos it would put a seal on this great event.

What would winning the sires title mean to Captain Al ?

Being called Champion is everything - it won't mean a price increase or more mares (fully booked anyway) it just that its every stallion owners dream. We've been fortunate in winning a few already - in my view he deserves it most! From very humble beginings - never got nearly as many or as good mares as JM in the first 5 years.

PEGASUS stated that Captain Al "never got nearly as many or as good
mares as Jet Master in the first 5 years."

He must have forgotten that 2 weeks before Jet Master's 3rd breeding season in 2003 we were told to
remove him from Highlands Stud. This was disastrous for his career as
it was generally presumed amongst the breeders that Jet Master had
been rejected by Mr Beck as he was not good enough for his stud.
(In hindsight the worst decision made by any breeder in the history
of S.A. breeding !) The breeders cancelled most of their bookings
to Jet Master that season & he had a very small book of mares &
the next season too - mostly our mares in fact. But, Jet Master,
bless him, did the talking for us & just showed S.A. what he was
made of & went from strength to strength, siring many Grade 1
winners with very mediocre mares & passed on the same character,
courage, strength & determination that he has to his progeny.
Jet Master was top Freshman Sire, & Two Year Old Sire with his
first crop in 2004/5
It was only in 2006 that his calibre of mare improved.

So Jet Master too had to crawl up the ladder the hard way just like
Captain Al! They are both fantastic stallions, but in my heart Jet
Master will always be my champion!!
