No show from Princess Raya

3 Runners at Fairview on Tuesday
*Elusive Mata in race 3. Shift to poly is a concern and the draw. Will need luck.
Beau Kala in race 4. Likes the poly so should be competitive.
* Jean Paul in race 7. Doesn’t like the poly but the next turf race is a few weeks away so giving him a gallop despite the draw.

Elusive Mata a good run in 4th from that draw.
Beau Kala disappointing but seemed to find some interference in the straight.
Jean Paul as expected. He knocks himself behind on the poly.

Three runners at Fairview on Friday.
*Sunlit from Heaven in race 3. She is fit and well and if she takes to the poly is well in at the weights. She has a tendency to be too far back early on which could be an issue with the short straight.
*Klip in die Bos in the same race. Has not shown anything in CT and just hoping for some improvement with the move to a weaker centre and stepping up in trip.
*Elusive Jewel in race 5. With a decent draw has an ew chance in an open race.

Sunlit and E Jewel fair runs but a bit below expectations.
Klip, the less said the better.

Three exciting runners at Durbanville on Saturday.
Call to Unite in race 3. Excellent debut, and should enjoy the step up in trip. Tough draw, and this looks a hot maiden, but I’m hopeful that he can win this.
Canford Rose in race 5. Chucked in the deep end after a pleasing maiden win. After the two scratchings just 5 runners. It will be interesting to see how she shapes in this company.
Golden Tatjana in race 8. Excellent juvenile form, and should be a big runner here.

RTR sale at Durbanville on Sunday. I pinhooked a few from the Cape Winter sale, and also have one home bred ( lot 24). Relatively small catalogue, but the quality is in line with prior years.

RTR sale was quite strong.

Call to Unite worked hard to overcome the draw and was snagged late. Good run in second and should win soon.
Canford Rose outpaced and needs further and a galloping track.
Golden Tatjana looked in need of the run- led most of the way and faded last bit.

One runner at Greyville on Wednesday. Pascali in race 3. Good effort last time and a similar type of field. Wide draw to overcome, but 2 scratchings will help, and he again has a decent ew chance.

Pascali caught wide on a fast track and never dangerous. He is better than this.

One runner at Fairview on Friday. Quasimodo runs in race 7. He is well suited to track and trip, gets a decent draw and must be a huge runner.
Bournemouth is favourite, and keeps on improving. He arrived in PE as a lowly MR67 maiden and in the space of 6 months has won 5 and rated 91. He will be a tough nut to crack with Fourie up again.
They should fight it out.
Tarantino has been off form his last few, but gets the 4kg claimer and is thus very well in at the weights if he bounces back to form. Peace in our World regained form last time and is also a threat on best form.
Red William thrashed a weak maiden field on his poly and local debut, and is 3kg out at the weights with the top ones in a huge jump in class, but he could show improvement to place.
Zig Zag is another that could sneak into a minor place.

Fair run by Quasimodo in 4th with a length covering the first 4.

Two runners at Turffontein on Saturday.
Stellar Fella makes his debut in race 1. Originally bought by Sharon Kotzen for Playgate and then all his horses moved to Gauteng. He is a nice colt but no idea how he is doing, so will be watching with interest. A couple of the better performed raced runners have been scratched, leaving Secret Chord and San Simon with exposed form but not convincing. On these big days we often see a good first timer winning this type of race. The two Tarry runners look interesting on breeding.
Aussenkher steps up to Listed class in race 4. A very competitive race where few can be ignored. His run last time over 1000m was very good, and hopefully he can win this. Captain Hindsight, Dyce and I am Giant look the shortlist to beat.

Poor debut by Stellar Fella.
Aussenkehr was put in his place by a strong field.

One runner at Turffontein on Thursday.
Celtic Rumours returns from her winter break in race 7. Competitive race, but she is lightly raced with a lot of scope for improvement. If fit enough should be in the shakeup.

Smart win by Celtic Rumours. Hopefully she can give the mare her second stakes winner this season.

One runner at Fairview on Friday. Treasure Hunt has relocated from CT and makes her local debut in race 2. She is fit and well and should be competitive. Not the best of draws, but she has good gate speed. Strong winds are predicted which might be a concern.

Excellent run by Treasure Hunt- a clear second behind a horse that ran above his rating last time with no penalty.

One runner at Durbanville on Saturday- Exceeder runs in race 6. Very open race, and hopefully he runs better than last time which was below his best.

On the farm our foaling is now complete, with equal numbers of colts and fillies. A very nice crop of babies.
If anyone would like to visit the farm near Robertson (150km from CT) to see the babies or the yearlings, you are welcome to contact me.
The prepping of the yearlings for the Cape Premier Sale in January and the BSA sale in February is well under way.
We had quite a few mares foaling in October/November so still a number to get in foal over the next few weeks.
Elusive Fort has not been quite as busy as we would have liked, but has covered enthusiastically, and is getting them in foal with no issues.

Good run by Exceeder, lead most of the way and caught late to run 2nd.

4 runners at Fairview on Sunday.
Elusive Hunter runs in race one. Her third run, and hasn’t shown anything in two sprints. Full sister to Exceeder and will be more effective beyond a mile.
*Elusive Jewel runs in race 3. Reverts to the turf and should enjoy it, but has a tough draw to overcome. With some luck in the running can run in the money.
Quasimodo runs in race 7, Algoa Cup. Is in good form and a handy galloping weight, but a very tough draw to overcome. Needs luck.
Mhlabeni runs in race 8. Returns from a break but this is a prep run and should be too short.

Elusive Jewel scratched at start.
Elusive Hunter again no show over the sprint.
Quasimodo dropped out from wide draw and an impossible task from 20 lengths back. Ran on well to finish 7th.
Mhlabeni a good comeback run 4th over a trip too short.

It’s been a quiet week on the racing front.
Just one runner at Fairview on Friday. * Sunlit from Heaven runs in race 3. Not too bad first run on poly last time. Horses often do better at subsequent poly runs. There are some useful up and coming 3yos but she should have a place chance.

Sunlit a bit too far back but ran on stoutly in 4th. The further the better for her.

One runner at Durbanville on Saturday. Double Distilled in race three. Hopeless debut, and gelded after that. Will prefer the step up in trip and hopefully the gelding has helped.

One runner at Scottsville on Saturday. Dawn Surprise debut in race 1. Is bred for further. I haven’t heard anything about her progress, will be watching with interest.
