Pascali close second. Very clever ride by Musi on the winner.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. *Elusive Mata runs in race 2. She has come on from her two runs, and gets a nice draw. We wanted to run on the turf with the long run in, but she should be in the money despite the change in surface. She will be better over further, and Telio looks the one to beat. (Musi again trying to spoil my party

A fair run by EM in 3rd. Watch when she runs over further.
One runner at Scottsville on Sunday.
Golden Tatjana runs in the Farm Sales race 7. She is a short priced favourite and should enjoy a healthy payday. There are a couple of lightly raced horses that could challenge, but if she runs to her feature race form she should be a banker.

Golden Tatjana ran up to expectations and doddled in.
I entered this filly for the NYS and the selection panel in their infinite wisdom declined her. I appealed on the grounds that she had been rated 8/10 by them on conformation, was by an exciting new imported sire, Erupt, and the well bred dam, by champion sire Silvano was a winner of 4 races and her prior foals were winners. They did not budge. Hence, she went onto the June Farm sale, where in a depressed market she did not get her reserve price. I put her into pre training and sold her privately a couple of months later to Glen Kotzen for R150k, helped by the positive effect of the new regime at Cape Racing. Just 4 months later she won the very competitive Trippi stakes for juveniles.
She has already earned R670k in her first year of racing. Good luck to all concerned and I hope to see her pick up a graded race for her owners in the new season.
Needless to say, I have booked the mare back to Erupt this year.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday. Nothingelsematters runs in race 7 and again has a good ew chance in a competitive race.
We are awaiting our first foals of the season, and finalising the planned matings. Elusive Fort is looking amazing despite his age, and we are expecting a decent book of mares.

Nothingelsematters too far out of his ground and a disappointing effort.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. * Elusive Jewel runs in race 4. Looks a very open race and her first run out the maidens was promising so looks reasonable ew value at 16/1. Gets a fair draw. She needs to behave at the pens. Fur Baby had decent CT form and then ran a couple of good races in Jhb before losing the plot, and has tumbled in the ratings. She gets a plum draw and she has shown good early speed. If she takes to the poly she is a big runner, and there seems to be betting support, so one to watch out for.

Poor run by Elusive Jewel.
Two runners at Durbanville on Saturday.
*Lady Renee runs in race 1. Dropped in trip, and seemed to struggle in the very heavy going last time. Has been running in maiden handicaps but this is at level weights. The youngster Triptothewoods looks hard to beat. At the weights, both Ponte Vecchio and Head Girl should beat us. The rest look moderate, and if the trip is not too sharp, we should earn a cheque.
*Sunlit From Heaven runs in race 5. Has also been running in the maiden handicaps and this is tougher for her at levels. Came back sore last time so ignore that run.
Woman’s World looks the one to beat, and main danger is Flamboyant Flyer. Mothership gets a top jockey again and looks the best of the older fillies. We can earn a cheque if reverting to form.

Both races worked out as expected, although Lady Renee stumbled leaving the pens which cost her a couple of lengths.
Two runners at Durbanville on Tuesday.
*Treasure Hunt runs in race 6. Very open, although the improving My Flower Fate looks the one to beat. Ignore TH last race- she needed it, and did not enjoy the very heavy going. Did too much to overcome the draw, and tired badly.
With the faster going, and with that run under the belt, she should run a much better race in this small field, despite the draw.
Exceeder runs in race 7. Returns from KZN to his original stable. Another open race, where the fillies must be respected with the generous sex allowance. Exceeder steady form and is down in the ratings so must have a place chance with top jockey up.

Better run by Treasure Hunt but still seemed to need it.
Exceeder good run and unlucky to be baulked in the final stages or would have gone very close.
One runner at Fairview on Friday. * Jean Paul in race 4. Trying further now that he is older and stronger and settles better. If he stays will have a chance in this field. Hopefully it stays on turf.

Jean Paul did not stay the mile, so back to the 1200m in future.
One runner at Durbanville on Saturday. *Klip in die Bos has his second run in the 1st race. He hated the heavy going last time. He will still need this run and it may be a bit short, but he needs to gain racing experience. Hopefully we will see a much better effort, but I still don't expect much of him today. The favourite Warm Winter Nite looks very hard to beat unless a decent first timer pops up.

Klip bumped at the start which cost him a few lengths, so happy with the improvement even though well beaten. Will improve with this run and over a bit more ground.
One runner at Vaal on Thursday- JP Twothousand runs in the 7th. Very open race. Improved last time and although hasn’t won for 15 months, has an ew chance off his current rating.
Two runners at Fairview on Friday. Beau Kala runs in race 4. Won nicely last time but badly in at the weights here, so will need to improve to feature. Public Benefit and Holly’s View should fight it out.
Quasimodo runs in race 6. Easy win last time when slung in at the weights, but a much tougher task here. Can improve to score but Bush Tracker and Cherry Ano are weighted to beat him.

Both Beau Kala and Quasimodo ran good races at the weights.
One runner at Turffontein on Tuesday.
Elusive Hunter makes her debut in race 1. I have not heard anything about her progress, but she is bred to go much further (full sister to Exceeder).

One runner at Durbanville on Wednesday. *Lady Renee in race 2. She is fit and well and handily weighted, with the services of Fourie. A couple of up and coming youngsters may be good enough but they have to give weight. I'm hoping that she can crack her maiden. Valid excuses her last few runs.
