Are the lawyers running NHA now? Seems like all these press releases are intended to be as vague as possible for fear of litigation.
Question for  Vee Moodley:
There are many high profile people who are "registered owners", are they all now fair game in this guessing game on who the mystery owner is?

.....we wish that someone with half a legal brain or any brains at all..... ran that clown show then they would not leave themselves open to many more owners seeking similar press releases when they are also named in the manner of those in this latest press release.....ja why not now name them all ....then by process of elimination the one being protected will be known to all......dumb

It’s 2025 not apartheid SA where they had spies all over the place and planted bugs in offices, in hotel rooms, in peoples homes. Has freedom of speech not reached SA yet?

It is always interesting to read the various replies and then reflect on what ones own opinion is. While i am no fan of the NHA, i am more perturbed by the amount of people who want the whistle blower exposed and wholeheartedly agree with why the NHA will not reveal whomever it is. I had to do a double take when reading some of the comments, "rat owner", "Veale unlucky, stupid for getting caught", "reveal the owner involved", and so on. I had to ask myself if I lived in the same country that has watched the tragedy of Charl Kinnear and Babita Deokaran play out, while the example may be extreme, the principal remains the same. It is sad that when wrong doing is uncovered there is an emotional defense mounted for the wrong doer. Has the current lawless, corrupt climate in South Africa finally caused the average person to abandon their morals and basic values?

I didn't for one second think that the owners of the horse were involved and the fact that whomever was involved is a registered owner just serves as a red herring or more practically, the NHA could act more swiftly because of the registration. In most cases i have heard of, granted it counts as hearsay, the jockeys punter is invariably not the owner.

I have no axe to grind with Sean Veale and was actually happy when his strike rate improved when he started travelling to Cape Town for the season. I think that he is very talented when all he is doing is giving a horse the best chance of winning. But the very reason I asked my trainer to stop using him on any of my horses six months ago proved to be his undoing and that is being involved in the punting of horses. To make light of the fact that he has now blocked WhatsApp on his phone only further insults.

What is it exactly that the average person believes that a jockey is entitled to? Jockeys take umbridge when they are not referred to as Professional Sports men/woman and that they should be granted SA Colours and yet the behaviour by enlarge does not match the expectation. That somehow a jockey is entitled to bet or profit beyond their agreed contract in a nefarious manner is just plain vulgar to me but maybe i am on my own. It is already documented, the amount Sean Veale was earning this season, the percentage of the stakes, payment per ride, sponsorship retainers etc. however this would appear to not be enough. The manner in which this is normalized is what is frightening to me and a reflection of the depth of the rotten situation more than anything else. The very reason so many owners have left the game is that they are treated badly, one example, adding to this, is the very idea that an owner should raise their hand at auction, pay R200 000 for a yearling, pay another R180 000 training said horse for a year so that a jockey can prioritize a punt. It was funny to watch Justin Snaith hide the wellbeing and work of a horse from the jockeys a while back. It spoke volumes. The jockey engagements in KZN also speaks volumes and how some yards experience green patches when new jockeys are engaged.

I am not alone in my assessment of some races when i believe something to be hidden by virtue of the result and what i have watched. The current extreme late betting fluctuations, bad rides and interference in races, while individually are not an indication of anything nefarious it goes beyond the realms of belief when the frequent occurrence of the random collective is beyond mathematical calculation.

I have bought 5 horses over the last 24 months after having taken a break from owning, based largely on the fact that i was excited about the changes Owen, Devan and Greg would bring and have more than delivered on thus far. Increased stakes, renewed investment by Breeders and actually working with trainers. However, if this latest case is an indication or tip of the iceberg, how should anyone promote new ownership in horseracing?

Whistleblower or just someone who turned state witness and was offered a plea bargain in the face of incriminating evidence ? I guess we will never know. Admission of guilty was signed.
Bets were struck, perhaps their conscience got the better of them and they just did the right thing. Strange nevertheless.

Now that Sean is barred from riding Hollywood horses , would Anthony allow him to gallop (ride work) the Syndicate`s horses in the different stables?

Thanks to Mr V Moodley of NHA for not revealing to public the Identity of the Whistle blower.
However, the message Bob posted from the NHA above, missed the few words stipulating exposers ID is known to the NHA.

Its clear from the pre race interview conducted for the 15th Ken on Mr V Marshall, everything was above board.
Did S Veale lose his HWR jock job or replaced for the weekend only?couldn't find a related article.
Chin up though, you haven't been warned off.
