I see a few Man U people will be subject to disciplinary hearings after failing to fulfl their media obligations, but will there be no discplinary measures or sanctions taken against the disgraceful commentators. IMO they should be suspended.

Eng, would you know how many of the Champions league winners, obviously in recent times, would not have qualified if it was league winners omly? I know United `99,Liverpool and Chelsea would not have been in it had it been for Champions only.

Englander, I also recall that when Liverpool were in the Champions finals the whole of SA, and probably England, supported them no matter what there club allegiances were.
Why is this not the case with Man U?

Tipster, in truth (as DTF will tell you - but don't ask him cos he goes on and on and on and on... oh, and on
about it lol) I'm not from Manchester and thus perhaps not best qualified to say. I will say that I have a deep-rooted hatred of them for personal reasons and the thought of hoping they win anything is quite simply, completely alien to me. As we (or should I say I) get older, the hatred softens somewhat but I still couldn't say I would ever hope they win anything. Of course when the Premiership was in the balance on the last day of the season I welcomed them beating Blackburn (to no avail sadly) but that is it I'm afraid... unless they play Leeds and then I really don't care.
I don't like some other countries, let us just say for argument's sake, Italy (as Lscum beat Milan, yes?) but I have no hatred of Italy. Logic therefore says you would prefer the one you don't hate to win. But there is a jealousy factor here too... United fans listened to years and years of how many times Lscum had won the league etc and now they can no longer do that it is Euro Cups. Naturally they would hate for United to surpass them so they want us knocked out, similarly we would like to surpass them so we don't have to listen to their chirpy annoying little voices going on about it anymore and thus don't want them winning it again or coming anywhere near it in truth.
Hope that helps a little lol (tu)

Sorry Tipster, maybe I read your question wrong... if you were asking why people don't want Man U to win, I would say it basically stems from jealousy. They will tell you lots of different reasons (indeed I am sure one poster here could write a book about why which would be longer than the Harry Potter books put together! lol) but I rarely see any base justification for the moans etc... usually with these things it comes down to jealousy or a personal reason, either concerning the individual himself or the club he supports. I would also say in fairness that, though personally, despite immense provocation here sometimes, I try not to harp on about United's success, there are others that I'm sure do "rub it in" and that must be irritating to supporters of other teams.
And if I am totally confused and neither answer covers the question... sorry!!

Why did Fergie not go to the post match interview?
Why was Ferdinand allowed to clap his hands in the face of the ref?
Is there a "big carpet" for some people in the soccer arena as well?
