Empty racecourses. No bookmakers. No vibe.
There were about 2000 people at Germiston on the last day I went to the track. It felt like a ghost town. These days from what I can see theres less than a few hundred on track on a normal day.

As a member of various other non racing related forums this "more read than contribute" scenario is not unique to ABC. Attend any public meeting/corporate meeting and it is the vast minority who vocalise in these. It is the nature of the beast I suppose.
It is extremely short sighted to try and limit people who come on as guests. All you will do is have fewer views and a drop in traffic. Good bye sponsors. Comprehende??
OTA... that is well understood, by myself anyway, and not something I would like to see happen, Dave n Bob deserve otherwise. But, are we saying those who enjoy the site would not take the 5 mins to register and carry on as before? Personally, I am not sure it would make a whole lot of difference either way, even if they registered I doubt they would do more than view.
There is something of a flip side to your comment though... no feedback, no chat or discussion and the regular posters become increasingly fed up and frustrated and some simply disappear with an, imo, understandable thought of "why do I bother". Some of them were excellent posters, lost. And lost primarily because of the silent masses. Pirates is correct on quality. And if you chase the quality away you get less and less posters and, as a result, less guests etc etc, less sponsors. But, let us be honest, whatever is said is not going to change anything, the free-riders aren't going to suddenly grow a conscience (or whatever lol) and start to give a sh1t.
As for me, liked by a few but with a negative karma of 50ish lol. Why do I bother?
Pirates, re Loopy, let it go bud. I know not who is right or wrong and I don't care. He will live or die by his website and he doesn't charge enough for anyone to complain, nor, I believe, is anyone tied in. He is certainly not the worst "tipster" ever to grace these pages.

I don't post that often because:-
1. of the odd hours that I work.
2. It can become hectic during racing hours with too much to concentrate on,like looking for value, deciding what bet too take etc.
3. Other forms of social media like whatsapp take preference because it is easier to communicate by voice ( I hate to type).

Surely with so many diverse personalities(in life) everybody will get something different out of a forum.
For instance, the daily tipping thread was a late development,as the original discussions were focussed on concerning issues in the industry ,including the concerned owners group ,which was very high profile, for some time!
Insofar as the tipping thread is concerned ,I only posted when I found what I considered a horse with a "handicap" advantage ,but gave up after being drawn into argument about them.........my intention was to contribute, not debate,so just gave that up!
To each their own surely!

Tipping thread is just one thread
Infact for years we never always had a daily thread
I must admit I very rarely read the tipping threads, but occasionally moan or tip on them.

I agree, but the complaints about non-participation is obviously aimed these threads ........... some perception that people get rich from the contributions on the tipping thread and don't return the favour.........lol
Personally, because I read most threads out of interest,I reckon that readers would need some time before they got beneficial guidance therefrom as I think that sorting out whose contributions are consistently valuable, would take a good few weeks ,or even months.
I have a very short list of posters ,that if I have excluded one of their pointers,i will take a relook to see if I missed something.
Also, posters like Agra and Flaunt seem to get some genuine "graft" !
