It’s day 95 and another week.

Looks like major concerns ahead as the Virus numbers start to increase and Taxis take on Government.
It’s normal practice that SA citizens are not law abiding and fairly confident that restaurant operators, smokers etc will carry on regardless.

The government has made it clear for years that “bringing people to book” is only a buzz word. Zuma being a classic example.
However try and do something properly via a government dept and that will bring you close to suicide.
On the racing front, jockeys movement: it’s their profession and permits should be issued . “Common sense” should be removed from the SA dictionary.

Sorry, have to stop being negative, let’s get back to horses.
How is the July looking now?
Rainbow Bridge, Belgarion, Do It Again, Got the Greenlight, Vardy?
Hawwaam (doubtful runner) come on bookies let’s have (with a run) quote.
Maybe MDK can’t get taxi to airport.

On the subject of good/great horses Enable, Stradivarius, Hawwaam??
We have to be careful that we have the real article.
Always loved this from the late/great Tommy Cooper.

As regards the July, Rainbow Bridge looked very impressive against a competitive field.... but so far for me the best run I have seen post lock down was Bunker Hunt ....

Morning all on day 96.

News much the same with the Virus rising and confusion on the lifting of level 3 relaxations.
Taxis, schools and Financial disaster looming.
So basically just another day in Africa.
Not sure what happened to the President?

On the racing front Enable is back on Sunday in the Coral Eclipse on way to the ARC, can she do it?

Here is one of my fav bands ever.

The silence of the Pres and his merry band is deafening.
Who is playing the wait and see game?

Good morning all on day 97 and another month has gone.

We got over our geyser problem only to be hit with a car problem.
Not sure about yourselves but normal problems get exaggerated during the lockdown.

Not sure when Cyril in due to make an appearance again?
One gets the impression the shit is going to hit the fan soon with much uncertainty about the future.
Numbers rising, business opening, rules being broken.

If we keep our head in the sand, at least good racing to look forward to over the weekend, both local and international.

As far as a song, not sure if I have used any Dylan songs?
Won’t put the lyrics up as it’s always a challenge to understand what he is saying.
Good old Bob, one of my favs

Good morning on day 98 of lockdown

Was going to try and avoid watching the depressing news channels, but had to stop when Markus Jooste face appeared on the box!
It was an article about Steinhoff being under more pressure.

So I guess horse racing should be this mornings theme.

I know it’s only Thursday but I am planning a few days leave this weekend.

We have another great weekends racing from Scottsville, plenty of articles on the site.
Epsom on Saturday will see the Oaks and Derby: I have taken the Frankie double, but won’t be easy as Love a big runner in the Oaks and Kameko a big threat in the Derby.
Sunday is the Coral Eclipse where Enable is hot fav but again might just be in need of the run and Ghaiyyath a huge threat.

As far as a song, have gone with a man that is regarded as one of the best guitarist on the planet.
The first time I watched a live performance he was with the supergroup Cream (Baker and Bruce) both passed away.

So here is Eric Clapton singing what we would all like to do....

Day 99 of lockdown.

Sadly I had an early start to the day.
I heard noises around 2.30 ish.....looked out the window to see people pushing trolleys to collect cardboard and bottles from the dustbins.
The dustbin men come on a Friday and it’s terrible to watch people looking through the black bags just to survive.
Most people in the area put the trolley bins out at 8 ish and numerous people come from a makeshift settlement named “plastic view”.
Many ladies with babies strapped to their backs also follow after the initial early run from the men.
It’s a terrible situation, we make an effort to put separate bags with food out, as many other neighbours do the same, but there is just not enough to meet the demand.
This is not Covid related but obviously has made the position worse.

It’s a sobering thought and a reality of SA society.

Difficult to ignore and get back to normal, but life goes on.

Another great racing weekend ahead with plenty info on forum.

It’s Mrs S birthday today but certainly a difficult time to celebrate with restrictions.
We also have our first on line funeral today with a link to UK.

Trying to get my head around a song and I guess on day 99, it should be 99 red balloons, but certainly not my type of music.
Maybe steal the Stevie Wonder version of Happy Birthday, it was for the great Nelson Mandela.

Good morning on DAY “ONE HUNDRED” ##

The question is, did we jump the gun with lockdown? We have totally crippled the country financially. As we start to try and open up the financial side, we start to hit the virus peak.
Worrying times ahead 🙏

We had our first experience of an online funeral yesterday with a link to the UK.
Very sad, emotional but very professional.
Thanks for birthday wishes for Mrs S 👍 apart from funeral a good day.

Plenty good racing today from Scottsville and Epsom.

As far a song on 100 days.

James Ingram

Well Dave, ask why the WHO live broadcasts stopped?

Because they tell the facts, and the facts are too scary
