I wouldn't be crying over 96k personally. Not a bad return on R328. Rules are rules unfortunately and this is how bookies make money, hard lines but I'd be taking the 96k and be very happy!

I am actually surprised that some of the guys are not aware of the rules.
We have mentioned numerous times on ABC, and there has been dedicated thread to this effect, that there are limits for the exotic bets.
Again, I am surprised.

the poor punter should be made aware of the limits so he could have made an informed decision to play at the bookies or not

The big question is, does that punters cash form part of the national pool when he takes a bet like the P6 with a bookie? Can someone shed some insight on this.

Being able to take open bets is one of the main reasons some dividends remain bigger, its called the rough with the smooth

if every PA that paid 10/1 was taken on the tote there is no way the dividend would pay 10/1

The big hitters play these PA`s on the tote to make sure of decent dividends

THIS PUNTER HAS BEEN RACING FOR 30 YEARS.
MOST BOOKMAKERS HAVE LIMITS. IT'S THERE IN BLACK AND WHITE.

My "gutfeel" is that Phumelela has paid for this punter's airfare to come to Gauteng for this interview.

everytime a bookie pays out on the open bet the punter in the tote is better off

If there was 2 winning tickets on the tote paying R500 000 they get R500 000

If there was two winning tickets with a bookie as well they still get R500 000

but if they punters had taken the bet with the tote all 4 tickets would come out the pool

I steer clear of these bookie venue"s that masquerade as "tote" facilities and I bet that many seasoned punters are none the wiser that they are subject to limits in these places....just need to hit the big one to find the true story.....those that have pulled the tote terminals and replaced them with similar should be made to advertise that they have done so.... :blink:

Maybe a ploy to show the public the mishaps of the bookies and try to entice punters to the totes

I didn't watch the interview so was not aware hat this guy was a punter for 30 years

Well i guess he knew the rules

Having said all that the bookies many years ago offered to act as agents but were turned down..

Take your exotics on the tote and your wins and places with a bookie
