Pirhobeta - it's a great idea. If it can be done in climbing, I guess there's no reason we can't test tensile strength and fatigue data for riding equipment. However to the best of my knowledge it's never been done and I'm not sure how one would do it in practice (most folks just use things till they break - or look as though they're about to - and then chuck them out !!).
Riding helmets are supposed to hit the bin after a single fall, but I'm not sure how many people adhere to that rule of thumb.
