@Blue, you are 100% correct for the affected foot! but unfortunately the other foot would also have to come out because the jock is now lop-sided and off balance which could send him and the saddle off the side and underneath the horse...

i am trying to send Hibs a video of myself on my Equiciser to show what is meant

yes chippy but he said he had to pull the foot out due to malfunction? so? is that not incorrect? on the first foot - as you said gravity would do this - so is there not a problem with this explanation ? obviously we know why the second foot came out this is logical

Blue,in answer to your question, remember that I ,rightly or wrongly ,do not suspect any skullduggery in this incident so I have not considered your suggestion of changing the rule or consequences.
What I have been doing for a few years now is calling for a total review of the NHA rules as I have pages of evidence that the existing rules are not being enforced.A number of these is due to the fact that many of them cannot be enforced due to their poor wording.
This fact has been accepted by the NHA,per Graeme Hawkins admission that the rules were receiving attention, ages ago on Laffs show.
It is an excercise, that with serious intent could be sorted in a few months and yet nothing has happened. That is caused,in my opinion,by the fact that, apart from Hawkins and maybe 1 or 2 others, the Board is totally unsuited and unqualified to regulate.

An example is that ,following a number of incidents relating to weighing in, it was decided to declare any horse ridden by a jockey who fails to weigh in ,a non-runner.Shortly thereafter I was at a lunch with racing people and we joked about how stupid the rule was and we hypothecated over the inevitable scam.Choose a race, very small field, only one horse to beat, but almost certain to earn a stake.Back for a fortune and if it gets beat, don't weigh in ,and collect the refund...............a case, exactly how we had suggested, happened within weeks at Greyville.
That is the expertise running our racing!

i am sure that that remark was was destined for me....and to answer u quite frankly...thats none of your business neither is it my business to second guess why it was 16/1 last week...what is most important to me...was what i knew on tuesday...and where it finished on tuesday...to me thats all that matters...to further add some spice ..i dont post after the races about what i knew...itell it before the races to the few that ask me...and there about 5 on this forum who knew exactly what the story was about this horse and whats it needed to do to get into quarantine and in order to get a race figure so that it could go overseas

I think we all missing the point!!
The stipes are to blame!!
1)When a trainer forgets to put the blinkers on before a horse enters the ring he gets FINED!!
2)When a trainer forgets to vaccinate a horse it gets scratched and he gets FINED!!
3)When a trainer forgets to bring Colours he gets FINED!!
4)Moral of the story is when trainers do something wrong they get FINED!!

1)When a jockey lost his stick during a race? (Negligence!!) can be on purpose?
2)When a jock lost his iron (the pin came out) his equipment (Negligence!!)
3)When a jock does not ride a horse out at the finish!(now the stipes jump quick!!

The moral of the story trainers at fault get FINED or whatever punishment!!
The jocks can do what ever they want and the racing public must just eat humble pie YE-YE AMEN!!

Why bother having stipes that check up on owners and trainers!!
The jockeys have the final say in the outcome of a RESULT!! (Fine them for lost stick or poor equipment)

if the leather comes undone, we automatically take our foot out the iron so as not to get hung up, fall off the other side or lose the iron and leather. a set of leathers is about R500 and irons are anywhere between R5000 for carbon fibre and R500 for normal aluminium

the function of the leather is to hold the iron in place, if the clip comes undone, then the leather has no function...
