So they take a lien on the horse till paid for-well done on the innovation.
Then the TBA need to compete......something racing is not used to having to do!!!

I have been trying to get a reply from
Amanda and she did reply that Chris was currently away but that was on the previous post not on this individual letter.

Love him or not MJ is a clever, powerful business man and he must love horse racing you can't keep throwing money at ownership as we are all aware owning horses in no investment or guarantee for success.

Saves them having to go repocess, like happens frequently when buyers don't pay

Louis, Neigh, perhaps you should read Dr T's letter again. Specifically the part about the non-participation....

We all agree on the free market system and competition. Yes, we know about buy-outs, takeovers and mergers in the business world. And yes, we all know the bottom line is money in the bank.

The TBA are lax on their admin yes, we know, and need to pull up their socks. But where is the money for research, imp/exp etc - the activities the TBA currently fund, going to come from? Will CTS take responsibility for this - or 50% of it at least, or a % of the market they are purportedly wanting to own?

Instead of bulldozing the TBA, could a better solution not be negotiated? Most know what happened at the last meetings with failed outcomes between the TBA and CTS, - think about that.

Have CTS, with the couple of sales they have had, decided it is a viable business - big enough of a market for both sales companies, or have they just decided in order to survive, they have to push the other sales company out, no matter what.

Don, you havent answered my question and what I am trying to say. What, if any, affect will this spat have on the breeder or the potential buyer ? What has MJ got to do, if any, with the choices these critics can make about their product ? Remember this is a personal "attack" on MJ !
CTS offers a far better "product " for the breeder and the horse IMHO
Regards research, dont you think that MJ and his team are not actively involved (at their cost) in finding solutions to export protocols ?

Well I suppose we could ask another question, is MJ good or bad for racing?

If he was to withdraw all his racing interest would SA racing be better or worse off?

Any views

Speculation does not help finding answers, it just muddies the waters.

I don't own horses I have better things to spend my money on. I will leave the vanity for all those needing to find it in a horse lol. Don makes an interesting point about research and costs. My feeling is CTS have seen the absolute failure of the current lot and decided that it was money wasted. You cannot fault them for that. TBA were getting millions and achieved nothing.

My view is that he is good for racing. Think of the money he has invested in horses. If he withdrew his support today a lot of people would be in the streets. Another thing if it were not for him and his partners Cape Racing would be in trouble or maybe even stuck out. How can this be bad? I think the big problem here is jealousy.

Maybe the NHA need to follow suit but are they strong enough?

Correct O.T.Air - Racing South Africa (RSA) achieved absolutely nothing. Simple to understand. I notice that Peter Gibson, ex RSA, has now joined TBA/BSA. .. But, what a waste of money Racing South Africa was.... So, Don, I ask , " participation in WHAT" ? Another fund draining exercise, achieving exactly what ? Nothing HAS been achieved !
Ultimately, change is due !

Truth is that we need to show or go. ... We need to get WITH IT !
